Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've prepared well. We've made a list of handy tips and tricks that will get your Kakadi escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It's easy — first, pack your passport, travel docs, wallet and daily medications. Next, you'll want some in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A thrilling book and a laptop filled with your favourite movies are always good options. If you hope to take a short nap, a comfy neck pillow and some noise-cancelling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, leave space for a few toiletry items so you'll arrive looking and feeling fresh.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp or pointed objects, like your Swiss Army knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, flares and strong acids, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Go for comfort over style. Prepare for changes in cabin temperature by wearing layers, and wear flat, slightly roomy footwear like slip-ons.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Try to walk around the cabin or do some gentle exercises in your seat to promote better circulation.
