## Emplacement
Summer resort, classified winter sports and mountaineering resort by decree of 1969, located in the center of the Alps of Savoie, Flumet occupies the heart of this high valley of the Mont Blanc region. The Arly flows peacefully from its source above Megève to Flumet, the ancient fortified city built with its castle on a rocky spur at the confluence of the Arly and the Arrondine, marked the southern end of the Faucigny.
Between Megève and Flumet, we appreciate the delicious lingering offers of the road "in the world most charming and most flowery there is" according to Jacques Lovie, President of the Savoy Society of History and Archaeology. The Mont-Blanc range develops wonderfully with all its needles in the east; in the north, the Aravis range raises its rocks up to almost 3000 meters with its famous pass opening the way to Thônes, Annecy and Genevois. To the south, forest, alpine pastures and plateaus lead to the col des Saisies and the Beaufortain massif. To the west, a deep rupture is marked by the gorges of the Arly. This central location in the heart of the Alps, privileged by its environment and its average altitude, has earned Flumet and Val d'Arly Mont-Blanc to be a popular centre for excursions and hikes in summer.
