"This a great place to stay that is in the Victorian era mode. I hope the basic decorum and vibe of the place never changes. It is a throw back to another era and all of the pictures from earlier times in Kolkata and the hotel and news clips are very interesting. Yes there maybe some pealing paint (which to me is part of the charm) but there is a touch of class throughout - e.g. white table cloths, real crystal wine glasses, antique furniture. The staff is well trained and eager to please. ...

"The hotel was wonderful. I was a solo traveler and felt very safe here. The concierge Amit seemed to be looking out for me. He was very helpful in everyway. I was able to walk to India Museum from this hotel as well as Saint John's Church for the Black hole of Kolkata memorial. The breakfast in the morning was very nice, although the staff did seem to have a hard time keeping everything fully stocked. I would definitely stay again."

"I really loved the personalised service provided by the owner as it is a family owned hotel and they go above and beyond to make you feel like you're at home. Nice food for breakfast, the owner even took us into the city and assisted us during our stay. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and air conditioned. "This was the fourth or fifth time that I have stayed at the Kempton Hotel. I have always found it a property that provides value for money. The staff are helpful and courteous; rooms are clean; breakfast offers a variety. The hotel is also very centrally located. I will choose to stay there again when I next visit Kolkata."
