It's so interesting to see the Old China and New, side by side at this famous Temple. The new temple is enormous and very grandiose while the smaller, old temple is the true treasure. It is here that a believed to be relic, a finger of Buddha, resides. It was hidden for years in a secret area below the temple, taken there as a group of priests to hide it from Mongols who raided the area. #Culture It was only found when the old temple leaned so much that the governed stepped in to try and save the crumbling building. When the secret chamber was discovered, the importance of this area was realized and the new temple built beside it. You will enjoy the gardens and huge Buddhas sculptures throughout the new grounds as well as appreciate the restored grounds of Famen. #red
