Disappointed to say the least!
Pictures are misleading! Property exterior is dated. Chairs are old, bay porch has lifted wood which is a safety hazard. Interior has several problems such as sugar ants, broken outlets, lights not working, one tv, not 2, etc. Dirty and property manager rude! Would not stay here.

Great Location, Management Lacking
When we arrived, the key was not in the lockbox. Once finally inside, there were ants in the kitchen, a strong odor coming from somewhere, splashes of who knows what on the walls. A broken chair by the dock (the only chair by the dock) and a washing machine not hooked up to water. All of these things were reported to vacasa (the property manager) who was responsive but they are not local and the local staff never reached out to rectify any issues. In going back to read other reviews, it is easy to see a pattern of issues that are not resolved until the next guest. The property manager is not proactively taking care of the property prior to an arrival and puts it on the guest to discover and report it. It's an inhospitable way to run a rental business. Besides these issues, as noted in other reviews, the kitchen offerings are more of what was left at a garage sale. 3 bowls, a smattering of plates, no wine glasses and just odds and ends of everything else. The paper towels and toilet paper are the thinnest you will find. There are two decks - the front one faces the wonderful views of the bay and is so old you best watch your footing. In addition, between the two decks there are 5 chairs. 2 on the bay deck, 3 on the canal deck (but yet there is a table for 4 on the canal deck). We found ourselves walking a chair through the house at various times of day. This could be a great house but it feels like they don't care about your experience.

Taylor’s Perch
Rented this property the week before Easter to avoid the holiday crowds. What a great choice of location and house. Very inviting and cosy, great views, quiet and peaceful. The a/c was not working when we checked in, so only 4 stars. Took 4 hours before it was repaired and it was a warm day. The house could use an outside repaint but the interior was very nice, we loved the decor. We would rent this house again.

Great location
This house was exactly what we needed for a relaxing few days. The house is located right across the street from the bay side of the state park, which provided endless hours of bird watching and even crabbing from the docks. Conveniently, there are a bunch of restaurants and a friendly coffee shop at the entrance of the neighborhood. We ordered pizza from Way West Grill and Pizzeria a couple of times because their pies are pretty amazing. We were less than 3 minutes to the beach, which was very clean and not crowded at all. The house itself is large enough and comfortable for 2 small families as the bedrooms are on opposite sides. We enjoyed fishing and crabbing in the canal when we weren’t out and about. The neighborhood itself is very quiet and was the perfect mixture of the bay and ocean in one. We will definitely come back for additional stays.

Lovely location
We stayed a few days and got to enjoy day at the beach nearby, fishing and crabbing from the canal side and the bay side. Nicely updated home. Exterior could use some maintenance but it is just aesthetics and did not affect our experience. Kitchen could use some dish soap (only had dishwasher pods) because some items don’t fit in the dishwasher. Overall very nice stay for our family of 5.

In the dark
We had a wonderful stay at Taylor’s Perch. There are couple of items I might request the manager before staying. 1. Since this is a canal home, and you’ll probably be bring a boat, yet the boat launch is not available to the public staying at Taylor’s Perch, unless the owners provide a permit. 2. The main bathroom tub doesn’t drain and the second bathroom toilet doesn’t flush properly. Hope this helps.

Terrific spot for a family getaway
Great location on the bay side of Galveston. Easy access to the beach. The house was in good shape and had all the items needed to enjoy the stay. Neighborhood was family friendly and quiet in the evening. Perfect place for a family to stay and enjoy the Texas coast!

Anniversary Murphy !
The House was very nice, bright and open with beautiful views . Had coffee in the mornings on front deck facing Bay and Dinner on back deck over the canal. Nice quiet neighborhood nice to bike through, we also enjoyed kayaking through out canals , with a little fishing . We would definitely stay here again. Happy Anniversary to Us ! The Murphy’s

Great house
Really nice house right on Galveston State Park. We were only there for a long weekend. Would be a great place to chill for a week. Beds comfortable. Nice furnishings without being fussy. Two big decks. Lots of parking.

Great, but they need to put more tv's in bedrooms and have a clear space for guest closets. We had to move fishing poles and the like around.... Otherwise, great property!!

nice place
over all it was a good trip, the little things were annoying. they had a grill but no gas for the grill. no info on trash days so i had to ask the neighbor's, I texted the number given to me many times with some questions with no response. i tried to call vrbo after the trip and the lady on the phone had no clue what was going on. not real impressed.

Just what we needed
We planned a last minute small (4 person) family getaway the home was located in a great neighborhood. It offered a quiet and relaxing environment to enjoy some star gazing. The living space was great to gather and play a game, and enjoy tv. The kitchen was well equipped for our needs, and clean. The rooms were spacious, beds were good size and clean. They offered plenty of storage room room for our luggage. We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend this home.

Short Stay
This property was amazing. Best experience I’ve ever had with VRBO. The house is perfect. S fisherman’s paradise. Short drive to the beach, even shorter walk to the bay and the canal is right there. We are already planning a longer stay for next Summer. The neighborhood is great as well.

Quiet and Relaxing Location - NO POOL
This property is in a wonderful location between the marsh and the canals. The neighborhood was quiet and lovely. After initially being led to believe the house had a "shared pool" we learned this means the community of Jamaica Beach has a public pool avaialble for $5 per person. This was not disclosed in the original posting but was resolved by Vacasa. Be aware - the pool is one mile away from this location and has limited hours and a cover fee. We were very pleased with the community of Jamaica Beach in general. The house itself is older and needs maintenance. We accept that the kitchen is outdated and the carpets are worn, but making small repairs like the broken attic access door in the guest bath, replacing missing door trim and cleaning up spare tile left on the patio would make a big difference.

Welcoming Home with Great View
Walking into this house was one of the few times I liked the place better once I was there than what I saw in the pictures. Lots of light, the place has a fun vibe. It's back deck looks over the canal, the front deck looks out over the marshes and State Park. I would rent this house again!

Felt at home with my family!
I loved this place.. it was perfect for our family. My husband really enjoyed the location of this canal home. The beds were very comfortable. I also like the fact that the couches were recliners and they were very comfy. All in all, great place.. very family friendly. I would definitely rent again! Thank you!

Good, but could have been cleaner
House was ok, closets junky so you couldnt hang anything up, pillows and mattress covers had stains on them and limited kitchen supplies. It was ok, probably wouldnt stay in this location again as there are houses on the beach for the same price. Pictures look better than what it really is in person.

VRBO customer service stinks
This is a really cute and quaint property. Unfortunately the people cleaning it do a sub-par job. Both the shower and the tub/shower especially had lots of mold (the tub/shower curtain was covered in black mold on the bottom two feet - so gross). We were able to clean the shower and use it, but with a toddler not so easy. The bath tub also does not drain well. Unfortunately, we had some type of animal inside the flooring which made our nights at the property miserable. I realize this is unorthodox, but the management company was horrible and I won't bore with the details. Needless to say it finally busted out one night and landed on our car, but it came back for the remainder of our stay. I found the overall experience with the property management company (especially the phone reps) to be really rude and uncooperative. It's a shame - if managed properly this would be a true gem and retreat for many. There was only one trash bag. We were travelling with a toddler and ate most of our meals at the home - one reason we like to stay in a home and not a hotel. So we had to go buy trash bags for food and diaper trash. Pretty ridiculous. Both neighbors had dogs that barked almost non-stop if we were outside, also kind of annoying. Other than our nightly visitor - the home is lovely and well cared for. Just needs better management, more efficient cleaning and a decent supply of customary items.

The building, amenities, decor, and everything were great and clean. I liked that we could keep our boat here all week in the slip. If anything could be improved, I would add a fish cleaning station near the boat slip. The elevator is great for lifting up luggage and items, but says it is not intended for human passengers.

Our stay at Taylor's Perch, Jamaica Beach
The property was in decent shape, beautiful views off the front and back. The house was perfect for 4 people, you could easily fit a 5th person here. Amenities worked well. It is in a very nice location in the neighborhood. I liked the ease of entry into the home - meaning utilizing a lockbox rather than having to stop somewhere first to pick up keys. It was also nice to be able to check-in early. We were very surprised and happy to start our vacation a few hours earlier than anticipated. It was a good trip, no complaints at all. I recommend this property to anyone look for a quiet, relaxing vacation with nice views.

Beautiful with minor flaws
This was a vacation for friends - 2 couples. We loved the house. It was charming and the lift was a huge help to haul stuff up to house. The view of wetlands, the birds, sunsets/sunrises were spectacular. Jamaica Beach is the location for this vacation rental. We enjoyed the quiet and character of Jamaica Beach. The drive into Galveston was for the most part pleasant. The house as a vacation rental had some minor flaws. House only had one trash can. The owners bedroom closets and some drawers were so full that it did not leave room for vacation guests to put away their personal items. Some of the light bulbs were burned out. We would stay here again.

Nice property. Great location.
Nice home on a canal (in the back) with views of the flats from the front deck. Very clean and open. Safe neighborhood, close to the public beach. Beds were comfortable with lots of pillows and nice linens. There were plenty of towels for the bathrooms but none for the beach, so bring beach towels. The living room has comfortable couches that recline. The kitchen could use updating but was fine for the few simple meals we made. The kitchen did not have any supplies so if you plan to cook, bring salt/pepper/oil, etc that you will need. The outside dumbwaiter was great for loading and unloading groceries and luggage. The drive/carport area is roomy and clean with chairs and a wood swing. Our family of 4 greatly enjoyed our long weekend there. Will plan to rent again in the summer.
