Relaxing retreat

Secluded getaway

We enjoyed the property and our time there. It was secluded and very private. Cabin was beautifully decorated, comfortable and had most of the items we needed for our stay. Spent some time near Shawno swimming at the beach and did some hiking at Shute Pond. Lots of great places to eat nearby.

Excellent Retreat

Way better than pictures!

Pictures do not justify the coziness and amazingness of this cabin. We really enjoyed it, the outdoor area was amazing, very remote and quiet. Will definitely be back!

Winter Getaway

We had a lovely time! We wanted a private weekend to relax and that's exactly what we got. The dogs loved to romp around the property and we loved the warm fireplace and hot tub to come back to. You could feel the home was built with love and care and made for the perfect weekend!

Bird watchers Paradise.

It was a quiet and relaxing place. Birds were migrating, the first weekend in April. It was a little muddy, so bring your mud boots, binoculars and field book is required.

Perfect Change of Scenery

We booked our stay for Thanksgiving weekend knowing that we wouldn’t be doing our normal gathering with extended family. We were excited to have a change of scenery and have time with our three year old and 20 month old away from home. The cabin was clean and beautiful - and the furniture and beds were all very comfortable and inviting. The place was easy to find and no contact check in was a breeze. We look forward to booking another stay and seeing the three season porch and finished hot tub space.

Wonderful northern getaway

Cabin property was just as advertised. Great getaway with homey touches of full kitchen and outdoor gas grill on the deck. We had beautiful weather and spent much of our time relaxing at cabin, kayaking on lake, or taking short adventures to places like Shawano Lake County Park or Cathedral Pines Nature Preserve. Each evening we topped off by watching the sunset and listening to frogs at our own bonfire with s'mores. Afterwards, we relaxed in the hot tub before heading in for the night. Look forward to visiting the place again and seeing what new features are added to the place!

July 10 - July 14, 2024 (Crissy’s Bday weekend)

We had a wonderful stay. The cabin is beautiful and secluded. Lots of amenities and thoughtful details throughout to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The pictures don't do this property justice. There's private access to a lake with kayaks for fun. There's a small boat too, but we found the kayaks easier to maneuver around the lily pads. There's also a private hot tub that's perfect for starting your day, or finishing it off. We had such a grateful time here and would highly recommend it for anyone looking to get away from city life, it's very quiet, clean, and disconnected. Warning, the wifi is very bad (they recognize this upfront) so just be aware. It's nice to stay in touch with family and friends, but because it's such a remote location, I guess this remains a challenge. Thank you Jim and Yana for sharing this diamond in the rough with all of us.

Best Vacation Home and property

This mini vacation was spectacular. Jim and Yana were attentive and kind. Jim went as far as calling and finding us an affordable pontoon in the area. We also went tubing on the river with Great Wolf tubing and it was amazing. I recommend getting to the river early so you can make multiple trips, it is so relaxing. The hosts' main concern is taking care of their guests and they are superb at it. My only regret is not staying longer. We plan on making another trip up in the winter and making a summer trip a new family tradition. I can't wait to see the finished product bc it is phenomenal now. Thank you for everything.

Perfectly Accurate

The property is exactly as described but even nicer than expecting! I absolutely needed serenity and quiet and it was a perfect getaway from life. Luckily for us, the floating little house wasn’t rented out so there was absolute silence. The only advice I would give or item I would change would be to add reflector house numbers on the side of the mailbox. I read through another review about the difficulty of finding the road so I was really looking for a turnoff IMMEDIATELY after another driveway. The property sign with the number is facing the opposite direction of the way in and in weeds. Thank you for the stay and we look forward to booking it when the remodel is complete (at the same rate would be great!). ;)

Great Stay!

Our crew had an excellent time here and are looking forward to coming again! The property is very private and we had endless space to ourselves. We really enjoyed spending time kayaking/canoeing/paddle boarding on the small lake connected to the property. We also rented and pontoon boat for the day on Shawano Lake for a very reasonable price only about 20 minutes away from the property. Our group had brought our bikes as well and had a fun time cruising around the area. The hot tub was a nice bonus feature and the enclosed area around it was a great way to enjoy being outside at night while avoiding the bugs! The property was as described in the description and Jim and Yana were very responsive throughout the entire process and great to work with. The interior of the home is complete and there are some cool upgrades in the works for other additions to the home and for the exterior. Our group is excited to come back in the future and see the progress that has been made! The price point was excellent and we felt our needs were more than met! We loved all of the natural wood in the place and the small details such as the hammock hanging in the main room were a fun touch. We are looking forward to using this property again in the future! Nice Getaway Stay

This property is great. If you really want to be away, you can be totally away. Jim was really easy to work with and responsive. The house was very clean when we arrived. Nicely appointed and everything worked as expected. As someone who cooks, there could have been more variety in the utensils and accessories in the kitchen but the knives were sharp and pans are good quality. As described the house is still under renovation so if you want a pristine property, it’s not there yet, but it’s safe and the construction materials are neatly stacked and don’t take away from anything. There’s a great photo story of the renovation and it’s absolutely amazing what’s been done to the house. When the three season room is finished it will be great addition to what is already a great experience. It’s a very short walk to the lake but you have to go out on the water for views. No worries on that, kayaks and life jackets are easily accessible and in good condition. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend that if looking for a great and quiet getaway, this property is great. It’s a cabin in the woods, a very nice cabin in the woods.

Weekend Stay

Property was clean, comfortable, spacious, and had everything we needed for a weekend stay in the Shawano area. Turning off the highway onto the gravel road and traveling between the neighboring farms, we didn't know what to expect, but quickly found ourselves among the trees and next to the water for a secluded and private stay. The house itself was constructed and is well cared for and loved by the host's family - it was really cool to see pictures of their efforts in the guest book. The hosts were communicative as necessary, but also left us to enjoy our stay in peace.

We would stay here again!

We visited this property in July which is peak horsefly season so we were unable to explore and experience as much as we would like but we still had a blast. Pros: Nicely decorated bedrooms with comfy beds with amazing sheets, large, functional kitchen, Indoor and outdoor hammocks, hot tub, several grills, campfire area with wood and chairs, secluded yard with trails and access to kayaks on Christy Lake, much seating for watching tv, playing games or relaxing with a book(4 seasons addition is awesome), extra supplies throughout house, dog friendly! Cons: We did book during peak time of summer but feel the cottage was not very clean(master shower and kitchen sink were not cleaned and dishwasher was full) and we started with 1 towel in each bathroom(we did find the extras). Bin for hot tub towels was empty as well. The kitchen is great but the utensils are old and flimsy. Not great options to do dishes manually other than old Hand towels. The kitchen is huge but most of the cupboards are full with supplies for the projects and cleaning supplies, a bit disorganized. There is a table top ice maker because the fridge one was broke, had to use bottled water because the water is gross tasting. There are areas of covered supplies for the cottage renovation projects that were easy to get around but we found lots of garbage throughout the property as well. Master bathroom is nice with a double sink vanity but the shower is super small And terrible showerhead, other shower was great!

Came up to race at the Shawano kart track

My family and I came up for the weekend to practice on the kart track to get ready for nationals. The location was perfect, the cabin was beautiful, couldn’t have pictured a better place. We had a blast kayaking, hanging out in the hot tub and my two boys (ages 12 and 8) loved the hammock and sleeping upstairs in the loft. Wonderful interaction with Jim, very quick to reply and we had everything we needed. Hopefully we can stay again sometime time!

Birthday get together with friends
