1500 characters isn’t enough to encapsulate how special this place is, and it’s all thanks to John and his wife. My wife and I stayed here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and immediately fell in love with the location and charm of the building. The downstairs is a perfect hangout spot for coffee in the morning and tea in the evening. The views of the harbor are STUNNING. The location is an easy, picturesque 10 minute walk to everything in Gloucester and walkable to the commuter train as well.
Now talk about attention to detail — John has thought of everything. We came here looking for a nice time to unwind and relax and we got all of that and so much more. Homemade cookies on the first floor. Herbal tea in the evening. Beautifully landscaped and clean accommodations. It’s clearly had years of careful thought put into it.
All that said, if you travel like us and enjoy the human experience, John is an absolute treasure. We stayed up talking in the tea room for hours and hours. Apart from the life stories exchanged, he gave us a wonderful recommendation for a dinner spot that was absolutely perfect for live music and a younger crowd; he pays attention to each of his guests and is genuinely invested.
Stay here and you’ll feel not only like part of the local community, but like family.
