"If I could rate it a million stars, I would! This is the perfect, peaceful quiet Portuguese experience. We stayed here because it was close to the wedding venue we were attending. The staff were all so kind and helpful, the pool was the perfect cool temperature with plenty of lounge set for everyone, and the grounds were gorgeous. You can hear chickens and church bells, walked on the cobblestone, and it was very relaxing. There's even a little chapel that I degree not taking photographs of...

"Positive.
- Staff when we arrived. Very nice. Great explanations. Good recommendations for restaurant.
- breakfast is inclused. Limited choice but very good
Negative
- high level of humidity in the room.
- smell of humidity as well as mold
- the mattress is really bad. Both of us ended up in the middle. Need to be changed asap
- this was the most expensive hotel during our vacation and the worst one. "

"Negativo

"Really lovely area of the city, far away from the noise but only a short walk to where all the action is. The hotel and room was beautiful, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Would stay again!"

"I cannot say enough good things about the Canto do Luz. The property and rooms are lovely and the food is delicious but the staff is amazing! They are very friendly and go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. I highly recommend!"

"The location was great as it was right in front of a metro station. It was also really easy to walk around to all the attractions I wanted to see. The Bolhao Market was a short ~7min walk so I went there often. There's a grocery store and cafe right below so that's where I got all my essentials for my stay. If you're in a pinch, they have a vending machine in the basement for water or light snacks. The neighborhood felt quite safe and I had no issues when walking home late at night. The room was clean and the AC was working during my stay. The bed was very comfortable and the room had plenty of space/tables for my stuff."
"We had a great stay at the Renaissance Lapa Hotel.
The room was amazing, large and well furnished, with a desk, chair, and a chaise longue. The shower room was always supplied with clean towels, soap, shampoo, etc, and even face flannels. We did not use the AC as it gives us a headache, but were able to leave the window open, and the curtains, despite the bright mornings, and slept very well.
The breakfast spread catered for any kind of diet; it was infinite, in theory, and you could eat either very healthily or unhealthily, if you wanted to. We ate at the restaurant once, and the food was deliberately fancy, and tasted incredible. It is really great to have the option not to go far after a day of sightseeing, but for the food to be as good is a real bonus.
The rooftop pool is good, although there were never really enough sunbeds for such a large hotel. We may have used it more if there had been. Still, a nice pool, great to cool down in hot weather.
The staff throughout are wonderful: friendly, efficient, polite and very very helpful at all times, especially the waiting staff.
The hotel is in walking distance to some nice bars and restaurants. It is also 2 minutes from the Metro, and you can get into the city centre in a matter of minutes.
All in all, I recommend the hotel, and would love to stay there again."
"Nice location you could take the train from the airport to the hotel no problems just a short walk from the station 10 to 15 minute walk down to the river but lots to see on the way the staff were amazing. The breakfast buffet was good a little overpriced though I’m in a different hotel right now and I noticed the beds here aren’t as soft this back home, but you can still sleep good."
"The room was clean, as were the communal areas. I did not use the bar or restaurant. However, the roof terrace felt a bit tired and neglected. Not like the pictures. There was a lot of construction happening in the area. It was conveniently located for the metro, but you do have to walk up a slight hill."
