A piece of the Shire for your stay
We were in Karapiro for a visit to Hobbiton (dad of family is a complete nerd — Hobbiton was great) and stayed here. The owners are fantastic and the place is immaculate. This little house was perfect for our family.

Ideal base to explore
Four of us stayed here as a base while we enjoyed some mountainbike and tramping adventures in the area. The house was perfect - even breakfast goodies were supplied! The house is quite new and very nicely decorated, warm, and super clean. We loved sitting on the sunny deck in the afternoon after our ride. Would definitely stay here again.

Just what we needed
We were looking for a quiet getaway for a long weekend and the retreat house at Karapiro was great. The house was immaculately clean and modern and the host had made so many nice little touches like outdoor games for the family that we felt right at home. I would highly recommend and we'll be back for sure.

The little extras
The house is amazing ,lovely outlook, quiet and tranquil. Awesome having a laundry too.
What was extra special was the lovely plants , fresh roses on the table and some Christmas decorations. The pantry had some lovely treats to enjoy and nothing was spared on the thoughtfulness of toiletries including sunblock, toothbrushes, deodorant.

Book this property! It is an experience in and of itself to enjoy the countryside and farm animals present. The house is cleaner than any we’ve rented and is impeccably decorated as well. The hosts kindly left so much for us in the way of breakfast and comfort items. We made easy day trips to Waitomo, Hobbiton, and Rotorua from this spot (but once we settled in we hardly wanted to leave). We could relax and easily prepare our own meals in the well appointed kitchen. The beds were immensely comfortable. Air conditioning was a huge plus on the warm days we were there. Cannot recommend enough! FYI- made me nervous that hosts prefer to send property info the day of reservation but in the end we got it in time. Hosts live on property (but in separate building) so no worries if you need anything during your stay.
