This cozy house is a comfortable stay for a small family or group - highly recommended. The pet-friendly house offers a well-stocked kitchen including modern appliances, a full-size refrigerator, electric range and a propane grill, and the hosts thoughtfully provided a complimentary bottle of local wine. We cooked several meals during our stay and appreciated that the hosts stocked a selection of spices and some cooking basics in the pantry. A 2 minute walk from the front door is a farm stand featuring local produce and meats; accessible 24/7 with credit-card payment machines. Bedrooms are compact but comfortable; window AC units kept them a great temperature on warm days and cool evenings. The house's only bathroom is on the upstairs floor (staircase is a little steep), which may be an issue for people with mobility challenges or if you have a max capacity group. The living and dining room are spacious and pleasant. The house is right on Rt. 414, a major thoroughfare, which features consistent and rapid traffic most days/nights, including trucks. The noise didn't bother us at night, but if you have small kids or dogs along, you'll want to keep an eye on them as there's no barrier between the yard and the road. Location-wise, this property is *perfectly* situated for the amenities of Seneca Lake, and for regional excursions. You're a short drive from restaurants and groceries in Watkins Glen, and you're surrounded by wineries, breweries, and distilleries, many of which have integrated restaurants or food-service on site. (You could technically walk to some, but the traffic on 414 is a bit daunting for that.) For hiking, several state parks and Finger Lakes National Forest are very close. If you need a day in the city, Ithaca is about 30-35 mins away. For lake views, you can walk 3 minutes from the house to a shore overlook with chairs to enjoy the sunset. As the house is situated on a working vineyard, you will hear some automated fake bird noise throughout the day intended to deter wildlife from eating the grapes, but otherwise the setting is very quiet and peaceful even though there's an occupied house right next to it; sleeping in was easy, and the property rewards both busy and lazy vacation days. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and the area!
