Hamewith Penthouse is a corner unit on Marine Drive with uninterrupted views of Walkerbay. It is a stone’s through from the famous Old Harbour and on the doorstep of the town’s main restaurant and entertainment venues.
From the patio that extends the width of the penthouse, our guests are within sight and sound of waves and whales (in season). By crossing the road, you can access the well-known scenic cliff path that makes Hermanus the land-based whale watching capital of the world.
Stay in, enjoying the comfort of the apartment and the views over the bay; or explore the town and its surrounds. From this perfectly located central base, Hermanus is a dream of discovery!

This was by far the best days of my 3 weeks in the Cape. I wish I had booked to stay longer. The view was unbeatable. Across the street from the coastal pathway and walkable to groceries and many good restaurants although I spent many hours in the unit just contemplating. This is a definite stay for me next time.

Great Location and Wonderful apartment - pity about the lack of maintenance
This review is hit because we spent much of the first three days having faults and deficiencies dealt with, which is a great pity as it reflects on the supervision and the preparation of the apartment, and /or the lack of targeted investment by the owners. Either way it is not good for clients. That is a great shame as the Apartment itself is wonderful, arguably in the best location for Whale watching and deserving of more quality control.
Suzanne and Eloize could not have been more helpful in resolving the outstanding issues.
The three most obvious of these issues were the broken floor tiles in the lounge which had exposed and sharp edges, the balcony awning which was broken, faulty and unsafe to use, together with the Braai frame which was rusty and had a main wheel missing. This meant that it leant over and was unusable. (This perhaps suggests a decay of standards in the property)
The Braai was replaced by a smaller used model which worked. The initial solution for the broken Braai was to prop it up on the stone which it had fallen off. One of the maintenance team said it had been that way for some time - a great pity in a Premium property. The fact that the two balconies and rails were both very dirty from bird droppings indicates the lack of staff supervision - the main balcony was cleaned for us and has remained clean despite the delightful birds joining us every day.
I hope that in our highlighting these issues, the owners will ensure that future guests enjoy a Premium standard in a Premium property.
Location 10 - Could not be better as it has a great view and is close to shops and restaurants.
Views 10 - Just why we come to Hermanus. Walker Bay with Whales, Sea Lions and Dolphins, perfect.
Accommodation 8 - spoilt by the poor layout of the kitchen - the designer was clearly not a chef. Its a pity because it was well equipped with quality Miele items and there were many useful things such as oil and sugar in the cupboard. The fridge also had a bottle of milk, a decent bottle of wine and some water - much appreciated.
Beds 9 - two quality King size (extra large) and comfortable beds (second bedroom is actually two singles set together).
Facilities, 8 - two good size bathrooms, a gym and swimming pool (latter not used) Maintenance - 5 - see below.
Presentation 7 - spoilt by a lack of attention to details. Overall standard and value for money 6. let down dramatically by the lack of maintenance.
