My family (husband and children ages 13 and 11) recently stayed here over Spring Break. This house is even better than it appears in the photos. It is conveniently located just a short drive or hike to downtown. My husband and I enjoyed hiking the trail behind the house into town each morning for coffee at Buck's while our children slept late. The house is fully stocked with everything you might need during your stay including games, puzzles, skewers for s'mores, a fabulous porch to view the evening sunset, multiple books and hiking guides about the area, a dart board in the basement and a fully stocked kitchen. And the house is sparkling clean to boot! The owner, Debbie, was great to work with and provided us with all of the information we needed prior to our arrival. The hiking in the area is truly spectacular. Whiteside Mountain and Secret Falls were our favorites and are not to be missed! We also especially enjoyed Ugly Dog Pub for casual fare and a great selection of craft beer and Wolfgang's for a nice dinner. Both places featured local trout on their menus during our stay. We also spent some time in the Asheville/Hendersonville area and stopped at the Cashiers Farmers Market on the way back to Highlands. Their barbeque was excellent! We also picked up some of their frozen biscuits to make at the house. They were the best I have ever tasted! And for an unexpected treat, we spotted a bear cub wandering through the side yard of the house and down the driveway one morning. Don't wait....book this house now, you won't be sorry!
