We had a wonderful stay at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel. Yes, the property is a bit dated but the room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is perfect proximity to all things fun. We will definitely stay there again. Mahalo!

Room was excellent and very well maintained. Housekeeping staff were very helpful and punctual. The restaurant was excellent but was surprised to find out the breakfast coupons were for $10 off, not complimentary breakfast. All in all I would stay there again.

Loved the view of Coconut Island and being able to explore near by. Didn't like the ripped/stained curtains for the lanai. Restraunt was excellent. Vending machine gave us warm sodas and ice machine didnt work majority of the time for the floor we were on.

Room was clean with a beautiful view. The pool was nice and used by all but would be nice to have some covered area for when it's sprinkling or raining to protect towels and such. Having the restaurant downstairs was also fantastic with excellent service. Front desk staff was helpful. Good location.

My family and I always enjoy our stay at Hilo Hawaiin Hotel. The hotel is situated in an ideal location which is close to shopping, beautiful beaches and the airport. Hilo has become one of our family's favorite destinations as the atmosphere is so laid back and relaxing. My only issue with our stay that on our second last day of our stay, while dropping off my aunt at the hotel (my niece was in the room) as she was exhausted from a full morning at a cultural event. Both my niece and aunt were locked out of the hotel room. This occurred as a result of staff making an error in stating they did not require my credit card for the latter

We had to extend our stay by two nights due to Hurricane Lala. The staff was very accommodating and took care of their guests during a power outage. They went door to door handing out flashlights and checking on everyone. They kept the hotel restaurant open for take-away dinners (cash only) and had the buffet breakfast ready the next morning (the power came back on in the middle of the night). We felt very safe and cared for during a challenging time for the island. We highly recommend this hotel.

Liked the location and the self-parking was complimentary. Didn’t get the room that we selected—a double queen instead of king bedding and a lower floor than we paid extra for, so we got a partial ocean view rather than ocean view. However, since only one out of three elevators were working, it turned out to be more convenient. Room could have used a more thorough vacuuming. But we were there several weeks after the hurricane, so we shrugged our shoulders and carried on. No housekeeping during our 3-day stay, even though we were told to expect cleaning on the 3rd day. For the most part, staff were friendly.

Stayed July 2026 - Family of 4 Highly recommended. Small mini fridge was very helpful. AC worked well. Get the room with a view, it is lovely to sit out on the balcony. Yes, its dated but it is very well kept and you can really appreciate the beauty of the hotel. The staff were polite and helpful with my several encounters. The grounds are beautiful. We will return.
