Great location but house needs updates!

The house is a short walk to the beach which is great! It is also close to the salty dog marina where we rented bikes, shopped and ate. Enjoyed the private pool. The house needs better mattresses and a better dishwasher. The house definitely needs some updates but the location is great.

Great place for our family

Great location near the beach and having a naturally shaded private pool was something we took full advantage of. Plenty of space for the 7 of us where we could get a bit of privacy when needed. The furniture could use some updating and the rugs could be replaced or a deep cleaning, but with 3 small kids with us it was fine. I will keep this place in mind next time we come back to Hilton Head.

Tired and in dire need

Refurb promised in previous review obviously had not happened. Whole property was in need of complete redecoration, with a few added niggles - broken bathroom plug, broken wardrobe door handle, stained and dirty carpet, mismatched china/glassware and cutlery. Outside was very poor, rusting furniture and pool area needed a jet wash. Beach equipment supplied was inadequate and dirty. Poor information particularly in respect of trash collection, restaurants, facilities etc. On the plus side lots of fresh white towels and five minutes walk from a beautiful beach.

Great location but needs Updating!

The location is awesome with an easy walk to the beach and just minutes from the Salty Dog Marina. It is also tucked away from major traffic. It is quiet and private. We all really loved the pool but it probably needed to be cleaned more often during our stay. There was always debris in it. We’ve been renting this house since 2016. Unfortunately there have been no updates and it’s getting pretty run down. There is still slate flooring missing in the master bathroom. Indoor furniture is old and worn and some outdoor pool furniture is broken and rusted too. The tiki torches are a nice touch but do not keep the bugs away. Foliage around the pool is a great privacy screen but is overgrown and needs to be trimmed back to help with bugs and junk in pool. Roof is covered with pine needles and weeds growing on it. Kitchen is not well stocked and there are not many plates or bowls. On a more positive note, Vacasa was great and very responsive to all our needs.....way better than the local companies who managed it before. I can’t say enough about the great customer service with Vacasa. Would love to see the house updated and in better condition. We’ve always loved staying there and overall really enjoyed the trip!

Perfect Beach Bungalow

Our stay was amazing! The house is a few steps from the beach with a gorgeous pool. Great kitchen for all the cooking we did. Love that it’s in sea pines with all the Goodies sea pines has to offer!

This property is garbage

This property was filthy and In disrepair. This property should not be rented out again until there is a major cleaning. We were afraid we would catch COVID-19 from the filth on the floors and the mold growing in the sun lights if we stayed there so we asked Vacasa to move us and they did the next day. The rest of our stay was fine. You need to inspect what you rent. I will not do business with VRBO again

Nothing beats a family beach week!

What makes this a great Hilton Head vacation location is its proximity to the Big Blue Atlantic Ocean, just a 5 minute walk away. And it comes with a great pool with plenty of privacy, and a house with plenty of room for our family, 6 adults and 3 children. And the neighborhood is extremely nice as well as very quiet. This was our second year in a row at Shangri La! Hope you enjoy as much as we have! MD

Perfect little find!

We had never stayed in Sea Pines Area of HHI. I booked thinking it was in the Coligny area, the on the listing is deceiving. It’s on the south end of Sea Pines...which turned out perfect! Only a 5 minute walk to the beach and the pool was great. They were attentive to when pool needed cleaning throughout our stay (though did come at odd/early times). House had everything we needed! Not completely updated but well maintained and perfect for a small family! It was the perfect getaway! Will certainly stay again!

Hot tub not so much

I didn’t realize that you would need to pay for pool heat in order for hot tub to be heated. Kids had a great time in pool but the adults would have enjoyed (and expected) to be able to use the hot tub. Lots of space in the house, great location.

It was all just.... OK. I won’t go into detail bc maybe they were just having an “off” week. But shout out to Logan (the girl who answered the calls for the property manager and showed up in a timely manner to resolve the issues that were listed in the property description, that either weren’t working or weren’t there). She’s a hard worker and a nice girl.

Shangri La...sounded too dramatic and too good to be true, but guess what? It wasn't! Found it on very short notice and took it because it would sleep the 6 adults, 2 kids and 1 infant in our family AND, it had a pool, was close to the beach (5 minutes walk), was fairly priced, and most notably, was available. What a stroke of luck! When your only complaint is that the beach wagon had a bad wheel and the pool deck drain didn't, drain, that is, you've got a grand slam. No doubt, we'll be returning, next time to stay longer than our initial 4 days. Ain't nuthin like the beach, and Shragri La! Best, Mike
