The “Lower Dancehall”: A lakeview forested cottage
The Lower Dancehall cottage, was the former entertainment center of the historic resort, where guests would have talent shows, poetry readings and plays. They would also host dances, with musicians coming up from Toronto for more formal events. The cottage has since been renovated, and now the kitchen is on what used to be the stage. It has lovely lake views, with 2/3 bedrooms facing the lake with huge picture windows. Set right up against the woods, it is set aside, and shadier than other cottages on our property.
Clyffe House Cottage Resort is a generational Muskoka resort, still in the same family since it opened in 1885.
We have 9 cottages at our resort that range from 5-2 bedrooms, comfortable for a variety of family or group sizes.
The resort is located on gorgeous Mary Lake in Port Sydney. Our beach faces North West, so guests have the luxury of watching the sunset each night from our spacious dock.
The beach is perfect for kids with a long, hard packed sandy shallow area. Guests have access to canoes, SUPs, kayaks, peddle boats and electric motor boats (with a boat license).
Firewood is provided, so you can enjoy one of our 3 fire pits around the property for a campfire and smores! Propane is also provided for each units’ bbq.
If you are sporty, we have a tennis court, beach volleyball court, ping pong table and badminton net. For the little ones, we also have a wooden play structure on a safe-sand pit.
Mary Lake is known for its fishing, where you can catch, Perch, Pickerel, Bass, sunfish and more. The little ones can even catch rock bass and sunfish from the edges of the dock.
We are close to Algonquin and Arrowhead Provincial Parks, Limberlost Reserve, Santa’s Village, Muskoka Heritage Place and many more scenic places throughout Muskoka. Just 15 min to downtown Huntsville OR Bracebridge. Walk to the Port Sydney Dam and Waterfall in 15 min, and continue on to get an ice cream treat from David’s General Store.
