Fern Valley--the Perfect Spot for Families or Couples Any Time of Year

In the beautiful Fern Valley area of Idyllwild, the home is bright, sunny and open, and the perfect mountain getaway for a group of friends, one or two couples, or a couple with children.

Built in 2002, the home has all the modern conveniences (forced air heating, air conditioning, gas fireplace, microwave, dishwasher, electric stove and oven) and every comfort you'd want in that getaway weekend. Everything is on the first floor (there is a loft above the kitchen but nothing is up there) and the two bedrooms have queen beds and their own bathrooms with showers. There is a washer/dryer as well. The bedrooms and living room are carpeted for cozy warmth, and the kitchen, bathtooms, dining area and hallways are tiled. The huge deck has a table and chairs and is the perfect place to sit out and watch the wildlife and incredible sunsets.

The road to the home as well as the driveway are wide and well-maintained. It's only 1.4 miles to the center of town, and even less to many beautiful hiking trails, from easy to moderate to strenuous levels of difficulty. We even discovered the home is about 75 yards from the popular and easy Ernie Maxwell Trail, which also runs to and from Humber Park.

When we come up to Idyllwild we find our weekends last very long as time seems to go slower when we're relaxing and simply enjoying the beauty of the area.

Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. and check-out time is 11:00 a.m. For earlier or later times please ask me and we try to accommodate but it depends on the previous and next guests and the housekeeping schedule. For groups with more than four adults (ages 10 and over) a charge of $30 per night per extra guest will be charged (maximum five guests). Quiet hours are 10:00 p.m.to 7:00 a.m. We ask that if you have more than two bags of trash you make a trip to the dump: Idyllwild Transfer Center at 28100 Saunders Meadow Rd. They are open from 8:00-4:30 Thursdays through Mondays and are closed Tuesdays, Wednesdays and holidays.

This Fern Valley cabin was our favorite place we’ve stayed in Idyllwild. It was super clean, beautiful, secluded, and restful. The owner, Suzanne, was accommodating and super easy to communicate with. We had a lovely time and would love to return!

A wonderful getaway

We loved our time in this wonderful cabin. It was the cozy, comforting, quiet and exactly what we were hoping for! We also loved the convenience of hiking trails right close by, and our animals loved the place too! Our host was very responsive and welcoming. Will definitely look to stay again next time we come to Idyllwild.

Cozy winter wonderland

Cabin was perfect. We recieved snowfall all weekend. Really enjoyed the gas fireplace and building provided puzzles. Great food and hiking nearby. Would definitely stay again.

Peaceful Cabin

We love the place. Very close to a trail. The road was easy to navigate. Close to the downtown area. The living space was perfect to the four of us and our pet. We hope to return in the future.

We love staying here so much! It’s the best location to park the car and be able to walk to town or walk to awesome hikes. Can see the most amazing sunsets from the deck. Already looking forward to our next time back.

Idyllwild Getaway

My wife and I enjoyed our time at this lovely cabin. This cabin has become our “go to” when we’re in Idyllwild. I think this was our 4th visit and it never disappoints. The cabin is clean and cozy and beautifully decorated. It’s located in a a wonderful area with plenty of privacy yet close to town. Suzanne, the host, is the best!!!!

Hideaway in Idyllwild

Four of us stayed at the Fern Valley cabin. The facilities were immaculate and well maintained. The squirrels, chipmunks and jays were entertaining on the deck. It was so quiet and peaceful, we quickly decompressed from our daily routine. Love this place!

Exceeded Expectations

"Sunset Getaway" was a wonderful place to escape from the bustle of "High-Season" in the desert. We enjoyed the cold, fresh, pine-scented air and the solitude of being off the beaten path. The house is beautiful and extremely well-built. It was immaculately clean and very well-provisioned with all we needed for a 3-night stay. The owner/manager couldn't have been more welcoming and responsive.We look forward to returning for a much longer stay. We heartily recommend "Sunset Getaway" without hesitation.

Everything about our stay was beyond wonderful. The cabin is located close to town and nice hiking trails. Everything in the cabin was exactly as was described in the VRBO listing. Communicating with the owner was effortless. We could not have had a nicer stay and look forward to our next visit with fingers crossed that this cabin will be available again. Awesome getaway perfect for families

We stayed three nights in February, although it didn't snow during our stay the girls had so much fun in the remaining snow around the house which lasted the whole stay. House is comfortable and quiet with everything you need you need to make meals and watch movies.

Great getaway!

Everything was great for a quick getaway to the mountains! The cabin was clean and ready early for check in. We loved hanging out on the deck and watching the wildlife. The kitchen had everything for us to stay in and cook, and Suzanne even gave us some great recommendations for live music in town…would definitely stay again

Perfect Idyllwild Getaway

We made a return visit to this wonderful Idyllwild cabin for a brief two-night getaway with another couple. It felt like coming home as this cabin is so warm and extremely functional. The setting is so beautiful with trees surrounding the property which gives it plenty of privacy. As always, the place I was extremely clean and had everything we needed. We just love this place!!!
