Conor was amazingly helpful despite our late arrival (nearly 1am) and the service was fantastic. Truly a great little hotel in a relaxing little town, also very close to what seems like a hundred vineyards.
Charming funky hotel staffed with kind wonderful people. With only a few rooms, we felt like we were treated like royalty. The facility shows the signs of its history, but it a beautiful way, showing the depth of history. It was quiet and soulful...I highly recommend it for a zen-like stay.

In spite of its creaky old floors, we loved this historic old hotel. Built in 1879, you are transported back in time to the Gold Rush. Although the hotel has been updated over the years, it is furnished in a style that is appropriate for the age of the hotel. It even has great wifi! The staff here was wonderful and we were served a delicious breakfast each morning. I highly recommend a stay at the Imperial Hotel and we would definitely stay here again.
Amador City is very charming town, easy access, historical. Dining was excellent.

Summer Stay at Imperial Hotel
Amador City is a very lovely town in Amador County, an easy drive from Sacramento International Airport and a great location from which to travel around the Gold Country. The Imperial Hotel has been a go-to for me for many years when I visit the region but I've observed a gradual deterioration in the condition of the facility with little apparent effort to improve anything. Rooms are adequate but lack basic things like irons and ironing boards or even sufficient hangars for clothes (things you'd expect at this price-point). You can ask for these items of course, but it seems to stress the staff and that makes things uncomfortable. The rooms, while fairly clean, do need a good high dusting and some scrubbing of the floors. More important, they are in desperate need of improvement - not to look fancy but merely clean, appropriate for the historic nature of the facility, and durable. They'll want to think carefully about color, I'd recommend getting rid of all things pink and pastel. There is still much charm in the place and I do recommend it however, you will need to recognize that it is old and in need of some repair. I would not recommend staying more than a couple of nights. I'd tell one, if you do stay, the restaurant is a very good feature, the service is excellent, the food is well-prepared and there is a good wine list (cocktails are also available and are generous). It's my opinion that the friendly nature of the folk working at the place keep it all together.
The rooms are old (that's part of the ambience) but very comfortable. Wednesday night includes live music from a local band. The food all looks surperb and tastes great.
Fantastic staff at the Imperial Hotel! Warm, welcoming and personable. They were having trouble with kitchen staffing and the food wasnt up to par, but it certainly has been in the past. Its an old hotel and while the room decor was pretty tired our room was comfortable and not over done to the point where the room no longer feels authentic. I love the front balcony and listening as the piano music from the dining room floats up the stairs. Do not go on a Wednesday. That is local band night and while it may be a brilliant exercise in community building it is pretty hellish to listen to amateur musicians caterwauling and strumming for 5 hours straight. It ruined our stay and if I had not stayed here in the past I would not return.
Very good small but historic hotel in the quiet town of Amador City. Amador City is small but historic and well-situated for visiting the gold mining areas and the local wineries. Very and helpful staff. Very good restaurant for dinner with a great selection of local wines. Two breakfast options...hot or cold with hot breakfast varying each day.The hotel made us breakfast boxes when we had to leave early. Rooms were good size and comfortable with period furnishings. The hotel operates like a B&B in that there is no "front desk" but the staff were very helpful in answering any questions about local sites. Highly recommended, especially, given its economical rates.
We had an amazing time. The Imperial is filled with history, the rooms are lovely, the bar is amazing and the food some of the best we've ever had. We can't wait to come back.
We loved our stay at the Imperial Hotel. It was a great place to get away and a wonderful small town. The staff was very friendly and the old time feel of the hotel was wonderful.
Imperial Hotel: Excellent owner, staff and amenities
I stay at this small hotel two to three times a year and whenever I can. I added two hours to my travel time in order to stay here. My arrival was late, and Marianne (owner) arranged to have a plate set aside for me. Who does this any more? And, because I have a broken foot, staff brought the food and a glass of perfect wine up to me he porch where I ate watching the full moon rise over historic Amador City. The Imperial Hotel is wonderful, and I will continue to go out of my way to stay there as often as possible.
Stop over on our way to hiking adventures. We were hoping to take in the town but most shops only open Thursday thru Sunday. Loved the bigger towels and history.
Loved the town, the region, the hotel, the room and the food. I would go back. I hope I do. Search for my video blog about our stay on YouTube under 'Leigh & Stephen in the USA - Amador'.

A charming and peaceful mining town with the Imperial Hotel located at the main intersection in town.
Live music echoed onto the streets at night.
The food was out of this world - including a cheerful and friendly staff.
Coffee served to the door.
This was our second visit to this hotel and we enjoyed it even more this time when we brought relatives with us. We had hoped to get the two front rooms which are great but were very happy with rooms 5 & 6. It is an historic building and well run by a very small but friendly and competent staff. We were fortunate to be there for a locals night with live music played by about a dozen locals celebrating the birthday of one in the group. Lots of fun! Dinner in the dining room was good too. French toast for breakfast was great! Will definitely come again.

Very satisfying Gold Country experience
The hotel exudes old-timey Gold Country atmosphere. Well-furnished light and airy rooms; nice bar downstairs and patio seating in front. Tremendously friendly and helpful staff. Convenient parking in a lot next door. The included breakfast was not fancy, but very good.
We enjoy staying at the imperial hotel. Staff is always friendly. Food is delicious.
We attended the wine makers dinner. Everything was hot and delicious and fresh. Everything came out on time. Which is no easy feat. If we had known there was dancing in the street the next night we would have stayed an extra night.
But sadly we had to head back for work. We plan on trying to bring a group back next year!
Thanks Mama and Papa Bear
I decided to take myself on a little local retreat, I live in Sacramento. The woman who checked me in was lovely and she was also the bartender. I had a wonderful cold beer and salad and we chatted for a while. My room was the wicker room and was VERY clean and restful. In the morning they have coffee and cups in the hallway and I got myself one and spent time on the balcony. Later, I had a fantastic breakfast in the beautiful dining room. The food was excellent and the staff was, also. I appreciated my time alone in such quaint surroundings.
