Housing for wedding party more like a little piece of heaven

We book lots of homes, this was hands down one of the best. Check in and office communication was second to none. We will definitely book again. The house is perfect for all ages, kitchen well stocked for everything we need. Beautiful and peaceful. Thank you so much.

Outstanding As Always

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had already booked the Ponderosa before Hurricane Helene, so we decided to turn this vacation into a work trip. We were able to go out and help several people with tree work, while staying at the Ponderosa. Everything at the property was excellent, as usual. We will return to the Ponderosa again and again. West Jefferson is open for business and we encourage anyone contemplating a trip to come to the Ponderosa and patronize the local businesses.

Nice get-a-way

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Had a nice get-a-way with our family. Location very close to park. Saw lots of wildlife (including a small snake downstairs). House was very nice and in a nice location. LOVED the koi pond out back. Huge screened in back patio with hot tub also a big hit.Dishwasher didn't seem to drain properly. And balls were missing from pool table. But overall it was a great place to spend time with family.

Wonderful family vacation!

The property is beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing. Our multi-generation family had plenty of room to spread out. We enjoyed the hot tub, koi pond, and wildlife viewing. Despite severe rainstorms, were able to explore the trails and creek and floated the river. Having the access point nearby worked out well. We cooked alot and noted the kitchen could have a few more basic items, spices, and larger coffee mugs. But overall it was wonderful. The kids room is definitely for small children. The bunk beds were small but the sectional couch was comfortable for our teens. Movie selection was only for children and no DVD upstairs, so remember your streaming account login info. We would love to stay here again!

The most interesting thing was the dead squirrel that we found in one of the beds. Even with these surprises, I would go back.

Our group had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home. We came to Ashe for a hiking getaway and this home was a restful home base between hikes and when the storms came through. We loved the porches and hot tub, sitting and visiting in the living room and meals around the large dining table. We all slept comfortably and we’re already planning a trip back for next fall!

Beautiful setting and convenient location for restaurants and shops (just a 10min drive)The hosts were tremendously accommodating, allowing us an early check in as we arrived early, driving from Toronto. If you looking for a well equipped, clean and relaxing place this is it.Thank you and we’ll be back next year.

Dream Vacation Spot

From the moment we got to the gate we fell in love with this place. The no cell service definitely topped it off as a 5 star for us and our family. The home was Beautiful inside and out. The grass could have had a fresh cut but we didn’t let that stop us from enjoying every single moment there. We will for sure be coming back very soon. Our favorite place by far

Cousin wedding in West Jefferson

We spent two nights for our cousin’s wedding nearby and the accommodations were lovely! Plenty of room to accommodate 10 adults. Beds were comfy and setting was beautiful with terrific leaf 🍁 peeping views of the mountains. Hot tub was great - only 2 of us tried it. Only two issues - house didn’t have a hairdryer and our two allowed trash bags couldn’t fit in the bins because the cans were full from the previous renter. The game room was great for one aunt on a Walker because lower level garage lead into the room without a step. Driveway might be tough in the winter snow months.

Reviewer Comments: My family rented this property we had a great time and the house was in great condition except there was a leak from one of the bathrooms while we were there. The management company had someone come out quickly but we could not take baths in that bathroom for the remainder of our time. Because the handyman could not do a complete fix while we were present. Besides this issue we would still definitely come back.

A beautiful,peaceful place to vaction!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family went to the Ponderosa for the weekend. We loved being able to take walks on the property. The waterfall, coy pond, hot tub and screened in porch made out stay even more peaceful and fun.There are a couple things that caused us some issues and if we had been aware, it would have made the beginning of our stay easier.When we got there, we were looking for the lock box that had been indicated on our rental agreement. The code would not work. I called and found out that the code was not for the lock box but for the key pad that was on the door. The key pad was dark and the numbers were dark as well which made the key pad hard to see. The wording on the instructions just needs to be changed.Then, we didn't seem to have enough towels. Normally towels are placed in the bathroom or bedrooms but they were in the hall closet. We looked everywhere but in that closet. The back doors wouldn't lock and when I called the office, they said there was a trick to locking it. They told us how that lock worked and it worked great once you learned the trick. My agreement looked as though check out was 11 but the book at the house said checkout was 10...confusing.These are things that would have been nice to know and would be easy to fix by updating the information.There were only 3 salad bowls...not enough salad bowls for 8-10 people. I called the office several times and the person I spoke with was so very nice and patient with me.I wouldn't mind staying at the Pondersosa again.

The kids love the basement with the kids toys and the pool/air hockey table. We walked the trail around the property and let the boys play outside.
