Very nice and comfortable room. Good gym and sauna. Parking good. Location good. Good breakfast. Only drawback is the design of the hotel. If guests are drinking late in the bar, the noise can be heard in all the rooms!

Dorint Esplanade is right downtown Jena, close to everything. The room, and bathroom, was spacious. The staff was friendly. We booked our room with breakfast. The breakfast was great. They had anything you could want for breakfast and if it wasn't on the buffet the staff would get it. We've been going here for years, and the staff is always the same which speaks for the hotel. Will definitely continue coming to Dorint Esplanade.

My brother and I stayed at the Dorint as our base to tour Napoleonic battlefields in Jena, Auerstadt and Lutzen. Jena is a pretty and lovely town with many restaurant choices. Great food, great hiking and friendly people.

Genuinely excellent hotel

Genuinely exceeded my expectations. The architecture is open and airy, which gives a sense of being outside, the deco is minimalist and room spacious, clean and with quality toiletries. The food both for breakfast and dinner was excellent and made of wholesome ingredients however the real strength of the hotel in my view is their staff who seemed to understand my needs and nothing was ever too much. Especially the lady in the moonlight bar who is so welcoming and when you are a solo traveller on a business trip that can make the whole difference.! thank you Dorint

Room was spacious and nice big windows but hotel told us the air conditioning turns OFF at night. In July, ugh. Please state this in gitel drtails to avoid surprises. I get mosquito bites easily so open windows without screens isnt an option.

The hotel is renovating its interior, carpets are covered, some areas are cordoned off. Still, a very good hotel, perfectly located in the middle of Jena.

Steigenberger Esplanade is exceptional. The room was perfect, breakfast superior, and the hostess at breakfast was delightful. Everybody was friendly and helpful and welcoming. The hotel itself couldn't be in a better location. It's within walking distance to the town square all the local restaurants and pubs, and some great shopping! Parking is in the garage and there is always parking available! Do yourself a favor and spoil yourself with a stay at Steigenberger Esplanade Jena. It's definitely it!

I was disappointed that this hotel lists in its amenities that it is air conditioned. It is not. I will say that the staff was accommodating. When we checked in, we were given a room in a very odd location of the hotel—you must take one lift to get to the second lobby, from there you take a second lift to get to floors 4 and above. We were given a room on fourth floor, we had difficulty finding our room—we had to go through a service door to a small lower entrance that appeared in between floors three and four in a very dark and depressing hallway. The hotel staff did allow us to change rooms. When I asked about how the A/C works in the room, the staff did admit that it wasn’t A/C exactly and attempted to describe what it was exactly. It just air circulation vents that circulate air into the rooms from interior, non-air conditioned common space. Olathe room was clean and comfortable—however having to take the elevators each day I noticed how the outside and inside stainless steel doors and interior walls were filthy! After two full days of seeing the same filth (one of the lifts had something spilled all over), I uncomfortably mentioned it to the hotel staff as nicely as I could, indicating that I’d want to know if I were the manager of the property. The person I spoke with to thanked me and said yes, not acceptable, and immediately called housekeeping. THE ELEVATORS (outside/inside/buttons) WERE NEVER TOUCHED ALL FOUR DAYS WE WERE THERE.
