Loved it!!
It was perfect for the two of us. We came from Hilo for a wedding in Kona. I loved all the little touches such as having coffee, sugar, AND creamer so I didn't have to rush out and buy it. Even having a blow dryer, hot plate, and other necessities. I will definitely be back again. Thank you for the ease of checking in and out. The only thing I was unclear about was where to put my towels and bedding. :) Not to mention the location was perfect as we had a dinner date at Huggos. Mahalo again!

Kona vacation
The location and the surrondings was nice. Easy to access the shore. The only problem was the small bugs all around the place. There was some maintenance during our stay, so we didn't have water for a day. I understand its not the property's fault, but it was a bit disturbing.

We were in Hawaii to celebrate our 28th year of marriage. The bed was good enough to wake up feeling rested, but not a bed I could stay in for more than 8 hours. Perfect landing spot
This was a perfect little place for two to use as a home base. Walkable distance to all kinds of shopping--from great tourist shops, to farmer's market, to your usual grocery and coffee shops and restaurants. So easy to walk to Hulihe'e Palace and beach overlook at Hale Halawai Park. The hosts even have beach chairs available! Not a lot of parking spaces available at the condo. One night we had to park on the street--but we didn't have any problems.

Lovely Property in a Great Location!
We loved our stay here! The location is ideal for visiting town and adventuring out. The room was clean & tidy, with air conditioning and a delightful balcony overlooking the pool. The hosts provided all the beach equipment you might need, and info on the best spots to visit while you stay. Access to the grills by the pool was easy. I have to mention the great water pressure in the shower too. We didn't want to leave! Thank you!

Great place!
This place did not disappoint. Everything is just as you see in the photos. The bed was a tiny bit soft for our liking but we still slept great on it. The cooler was handy to have. The bathroom is tiny but functional. The AC worked great but we found we were comfortable most nights with just the ceiling fan on and the door open. The pool and hot tub are amazing, we used it a lot and met some nice people there too. The kitchen was well-stocked and we found everything we needed except a can opener (which actually was there but it is broken. It doesn't look broken but it is). The parking was managable - we managed to find a spot on the highway out front when the main lot was full. We would stay here again for sure. This is a great complex - well maintained (tree trimming and routine pest control happened during the 10 days we were there) and is close to everything you need in Kona.

This property served our needs for one night fine. The pictures do it justice. Though what surrounds it is not super attractive, it is a cute property. It seemed well equipped for a short stay, especially for anyone not traveling with their own beach gear. It was pretty expensive for one night. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful, but she had limited information and we received no response to our inquiry re: when we could check in. Overall, much more positive than negative.

No running water, no shower, no toilet, no refund!
Stayed 1 night before my flight home. Checked in at 4pm after a full beach day. There was no running water so we couldn't shower or use the toilet and after a full day in the sun and covered in sunscreen. The property manager was "in another time zone" so our message wasn't replied to until we had already left the next morning. Didn't matter since all they did was say sorry. Not even a mention or offer of even a partial refund even though the condo was unusable. Stayed in 2 other condos during my trip that both cost less and were perfect. It was a special experience having 14 hours of flights and travel the next day. Just glad this was only a single night. Longer stay would have ruined our entire vacation.

We are sorry you were not happy with your stay. The city shut the water off for only one hour for maintenance, so it sounds like the timing was unfortunate. As your message arrived in the middle of the night, we responded as soon as we were able to get information on the water shut off.

You will definitely need a car to do anything
We knew going to the Big Island a car was recommended so we had one booked for our overnight in Captain Cook to only find out that while staying in Kona everything was going to be at least a 20 minute drive away. From the way the description is listed, you would think there is more to do but there are two little shopping malls (most stores clothes around 5), a handful of restaurants, and two or three access points to the beach within walking distance. We actually left a day early and booked a different hotel on the other side of the island to be closer to the waterfalls, hiking trails, and other activities. The room had ants everywhere which wouldn't have been a big deal if they hadn't made their way into our suitcases and hygiene products. The two people at the front desk were unhelpful with recommendations and took their time coming to the desk after seeing us standing there. Overall you maybe only need to spend one night/ full day in Kona depending on what you are looking to do. If you are looking for anything like the black sand beaches, snorkeling, hiking trails, etc. you should stay in Hilo or Captain Cook.

Good location convenient
The studio condo is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The location is easy to access from both the front and rear of the property and is within a short walking distance to Kailua Kona town, restaurants, shops and the ocean. There are many close by grocery stores, fast food and walk in restaurants., all within minutes from the condo. The manager/owner is quick to respond.

I could live here!
First thing to get out of the way. We had a little trouble finding the property at midnight, you are looking for the Kona Islander Inn - which is easy to find, but I dont recall anything telling you that. We drove by it a couple times trying to figure out if we were in the right place. Really nice, quiet, beautiful property just a few steps from the ocean. It is small, but everything we needed for our "home for a few days." Property is old, but very well maintained. Your view over the pool is beautiful with so many palm trees and plants you can hardly see the other buildings. Pool, Jacuzzi and grounds are immaculate. Parking was a little tricky to figure out the first night (we got in quite late), but after that was fine. Easy stroll to shopping at the open air market, as well as numerous restaurants and shops. Most of the oceanfront on this part of the island is rock, which makes for great snorkeling, but with a little effort there are some nice sand beaches you can get to as well. Kitchen is cramped, but for the space, was well apportioned and had everything we wanted, plus a lot more. Bed was comfy, AC worked great, never even turned on the TV but we spent a lot of time relaxing on the lanai. We would absolutely stay here again, and have another fabulous time doing it! Thank you!!!

The condo is very clean and has everything you need. Not very big but perfect for a couple. The view is on a very kind pool and there is also a small spa very comfortable. The position is perfect because is near everything and the center of Kona , 5 minutes or less walking, but you don't hear noise and from your apartment you see only nature or main yard.

Not on the water but such a ideal spot. Your in the heart of it all. We walked to everything.....shops, dining & the beach.... EVERYTHING! We came for a few days to see our son play basketball and enjoy Kona. Place was clean and quiet, internet was great since I did have to work and needed access. AC was not as cold as I would like but it was pretty humid and hot everywhere so I'm sure that had something to do with it. It was perfect for my husband and I and I'm sure if my son wanted to stay over another person wouldn't be bad.

Ideal Location
This suite is a few minutes walk from the main street in Kona, but far enough away to be peaceful and quiet. The covered deck was our dining area in sun and in rain. It overlooked the pool and was graced with a plumeria tree and a palm. The room was larger than we expected and comfortable. It has air conditioning and a fan. The kitchen is small but can be used for cooking with a hot plate, microwave and electric frypan. We loved it and will recommend it to friends.

This Condo is in a fantastic location in easy walking distance to beach and to stores and restaurants. It is well managed with a nice general pool, whirlpool and very clean gas grills. The Condo is small, but very functional and well stacked with all necessities - just perfect for a couple. We would love to book it again on our next visit there. It was a great vacation!

Aloha Hawaiian Beach Condo Review
My wife and I were very optimistic and excited about our stay in Kona. We really like the Big Island and are planning to move there. I have rented other vrbo properties and have always been very happy with each property. I cannot say the same about this unit. Although the property is in a prime location, the unit itself is in need of a lot of TLC. It appears that it hasn't been updated in quite a while or cleaned for our arrival for that matter. It is island custom to remove your shoes before entering homes in Hawaii, and there is a specific request from the owners to do so, however, the floors were hideous. It hadn't been swept or mopped. I had to do a sweep and mop myself. The entire unit was dusty; the furniture, all flat surfaces, kitchenette counters, etc. The shower floor was filthy. I had to disinfect it before taking a shower. The bathroom sink was caked with soap scum and men's facial hair. It obviously had not been cleaned, at all. This was another cleaning chore I had to complete before brushing my teeth and washing up. Also, the screen door is badly rusted. I made the mistake of locking it before retiring for the night. We were literally locked in our room. I called the manager, who was not accommodating at all. She was rather short with me. I was upset and a little anxious because we were not able to exit the unit. I called her and asked her to please send someone from maintenance to open it for us. She was trying to give me instructions to open it, and we complied with no success. I became a little irate, and so did she. She then told me to grab something and hit it and force it open. I found this to be absolutely ridiculous. At this point, she definitely should have sent someone. Finally, she said she would send someone. So we waited. A few minutes past and we lost patience and took the advice and grabbed the can opener from the kitchen and hit the lock, hard. Twice. Voila, it opened. And still, no one came. Sigh. I would not recommend this unit. To anyone. And I will not return.

While we appreciate feedback, we are surprised by your review. Our condo is kept clean, as many reviews attest to. We're not sure why we were not telephoned immediately about cleaning issues. It has been 2 months since your 3 night stay before you informed us of these matters. As you should have been aware, if our guests encounter any issues not resolved to their satisfaction by on-site staff, please call us, the owners, from our free long-distance condo phone to Canada and the US. Our phone number is in the welcome email that was received by you with all the guest information, as well as posted inside the condo. The rust-free aluminum entry screen door and closer has an adjustable glide at the top to keep the screen door open. If this adjustable glide is not fully slid back after using the door stop function, the door lockining mechanism on the opposite side can be jammed as it sounds like it was in this case. We apologize for the screen door lock jamming late at night and intend to post a guest note right on the closer in this regard. Our condo is updated and inspected regularly to ensure that everything is in good working order. We have reception staff, maintenance workers and cleaning staff on site available to address any and all issues. Thank you.

Easy and convenient
This condo was in a great location for our "home-base" on our vacation. We were only staying in Kona 3 nights and didn't want to cook much, so being within walking distance to town and so many restaurants was ideal for us. We made good use of the beach chairs and mats and enjoyed the quick drive to multiple fantastic snorkeling spots. The A/C cools the entire condo well and the bed was very comfortable. There's a lack of outlets near mirrors, and no outlet in the bathroom as far as I could see, so finding a place to plug in the hairdryer and still be able to see what I was doing was tricky. Luckily I only needed that once before a nice dinner. My only complaint was that we arrived as soon as we were able to check-in and when we walked in the condo clearly hadn't been cleaned before we got there. Within minutes as we were about to go talk to the front desk the cleaner walked in and apologized profusely for missing our condo - but no worries, we just went to town for an hour while she cleaned. The owner was also very responsive when we realized we only had one beach towel. We did see a few tiny ants meandering through the kitchen area, but since we weren't planning to cook we weren't super bothered by it. Overall great location, easy to book, responsive owners, and great vacation! Thanks!

Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Das Studio ist geräumig, hübsch eingerichtet, sauber und gepflegt. Es ist alles vorhanden, grosser Kühlschrank, alle Geräte funktionieren einwandfrei. Viele nette Extras zur Benützung wie Strandstühle und Kühlbox. Die schöne Aussenanlage haben wir auch genossen. Gute Lage, nahe zu den Geschäften und Restaurants, Bauernmarkt ist auch um die Ecke.Viele Apartemente sind von Dauermietern bewohnt, dadurch ergeben sich auch nette Kontakte und Insidertipps. Einziger Nachteil ist der Lärm der Klimaanlagen. Der Kontakt zu Sharon war sehr erfreulich, wir konnten viele Fragen schon im Voraus klären. Vom gegenwärtigen starken Vulkanausbruch des Kilauea merkt man hier in Kona nur die getrübte Luft, und einige abgeperrte Gebiete in der betroffenen Gegend. Es gibt genug andere Sehenswürdigkeiten, so hat uns das nicht weiter gestört.

Beautiful condo in a lovely setting!
This is a very quaint and well managed condo in a friendly and relaxed older plantation style condo with lots of trees and flowering plants. It has a lovely lanai overlooking the pool area. The condo was very clean and well stocked with everything one might need. Within walking distance to the pier, a nice swimming and snorkeling area as well as all of the shops and restaurants. Very comfortable
We really enjoyed our stay (second time), beautiful property, excellent location. The condo has everything you need, including lots of towels, beach towels, cooking utensils etc. We even found some candles in the cupboard to cast a romantic glow over our dinner on the balcony. Will definitely be back.

Excellent Location in Kona
We really enjoyed our stay. The extra touches were great, including plenty of extra towels, thick beach/pool towels, cooking appliances (if you want to cook in your suite) and the sink in the bathroom (loved it)..... Nicely decorated and very clean. We had a small problem with the shower drain, were impressed by how quickly it was fixed. Definitely will stay here again. Very nice property, great pool, walking distance to everything. We have stayed at other suites at the Kona Islander and this was by far the best.

Great location, price, and personable staff
Let me start with saying we enjoyed our stay and have no complaints about the unit. But somethings we did not realize was this unit is small and no real cooking facilities except for a microwave and electric skillet. We usually cook all our meals to keep dining out costs low, so this is a bit of a disappointment. The unit is more of a studio than a one bedroom condo. The bathroom has no sink and the kitchenette sink is tiny for doing dishes. When washing dishes be careful with your water use because the water runs to the back of the counter and can easily get on to the floor. I think it is the slope of the counter top. Also, there is a community grill, but a lot of the tenants use it so the gas runs out quite fast. We couldn't cook our dinner a couple of nights because we cooked later in the evening. So, if you do grill, do it early. Parking is limited so if you aren't in before 7:00 p.m. you might end up looking for on street parking and having to walk a bit back to the complex. Kona offers various farmers market shopping opportunities so do a Google search on what is available. The one nearest to the condo looks a little like a homeless camp and sometimes the product is over-riped and over the years I notice the prices have creeped up quite a bit and the quality is not as good as it used to be. So, do a little homework before you arrive. Again, overall the unit worked well for us and we have no complaints. We enjoyed our time and the coffee shops nearby are great - Island Lava Java and Daylight Cafe are both worth visiting.

Thanks for your observations, tips and 5-star rating! We do mention on our VRBO web page that this is a 400 sq ft plus lanai studio condo with 0 bedrooms, a galley kitchenette large sink and no stove but sometimes this information is overlooked by guests. The HOA rules prevents all condos here from having a traditional stove but we do have an induction cooker, induction frypan and a 3 qt. induction pot. We also have a counter-top convection oven, a veggie steamer, rice cooker and pasta cooker, etc.. The kitchenette is new and the counter top has a standard 4" high sealed back splash which has been adequate to contain any splashed water. We have never experienced the barbecues running out of gas, only the gas supply valve inadvertently being turned off in addition to the BBQ control dials by a prior guest user unfamiliar with procedures. The poolside double barbecues can be used during the same hours that the pool and hot tub are open which is 9 a.m to 9 p.m. after which the gas to the grills is shut off by staff at an appropriate time. Relaxing stay
We were a little nervous with this process as this was our first time renting a place from the owners. That said, we were very happy with the condo. It is just the right size for a couple or a small family. The furnishings are all very nice, the bed comfortable and appliances were sufficient. With access to restaurants within walking distance , there is very little need to cook , however if we wanted to grill we had access to the grills at the pool area. The grills are cleaned daily so there was no worry there. If we brought food back for later we were able to reheat in the microwave and store in the refrigerator. We had a coffee maker, toaster and a few other appliances And really did not need anything else. Pool access was easy as was the laundry area. Everything was clean and people were friendly. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.
