A nice hotel which we booked having read lots of good reviews, but let down by customer service/ a bad experience. We arrived and were told that we’d been upgraded for our first night and would then have to move to the room that we’d originally booked for the remainder of our stay. As we’d arrived late in the day and were due to depart for a tour very early the following morning, we said we didn’t want the room upgrade as we wouldn’t have time to re-pack/switch rooms. We’d already booked a room which we were very happy with. We were then told by the person checking us in that we’d be able to stay in the upgraded room for the duration of our stay. Based on that, we accepted the upgraded room. However, the next morning, whilst trying to eat breakfast quickly before our tour, we were informed by staff that they needed us to pack our things and move rooms. We referred them back to our conversation from the night before and told the member of staff that we wouldn’t be moving rooms until we returned from our tour that evening. They kept pushing that they needed the room back. After a bit of back and forth, they seemed unhappy but had no choice but to back down and let us go for our tour. The hotel was then calling the driver of our tour to find out where we were/when we’d be returning. The whole experience did spoil the start of our time in Kandy.
