  • Sri Dalada Maligawa, also known as Temple of the Buddha Tooth in English, is a UNESCO heritage site, and a popular place to visit for newly weds. It was awfully packed over the full moon weekend (would not recommend visiting during this period)! This pavilion-like structure at the front Paththirippuwa, or Octagon. It is a symbol of identity in Kandyan Architecture. In the olden days, the king would stand there to address his citizens who were gathered in front of him. The golden roof behind stands over the Buddha tooth relic that this temple is famous for. ACなしの部屋を選びました。部屋は清潔感があり、必要最低限の設備はありました。 エアコンなしでも、シーリングファンで十分快適に寝れました。 上にかけるブランケットなどがなかったですが、欲しいと言ったら出してくれ、親切に対応してくれました。 シャワーはお湯が出るとありがたかったですが、気温が高かったので結果的に大丈夫でした。 個人的には立地が良く、少し歩きますが坂を登るとキャンディの町を眺めるビューポイントがあります。ホテル前には水やお菓子を買える商店があり、近くのローカルな飲食店はどこもおいしかったです。 街の中心から少し離れますが、散歩がてら歩くか、トゥクトゥクならすぐでした。

Exceptional Hospitality, a perfect stay in Kandy

We had an amazing stay at UDF City Hotel! The service was outstanding—the staff genuinely cared about us and went above and beyond to make our time in Kandy special. The hotel itself is lovely, very affordable, and offers great value for money. Our room was clean and comfortable, with AC, a fan, hot water in the shower, and a TV. The WiFi was fast, which was a big plus. The location is excellent, within walking distance of the city center. The walk was so pleasant that we never felt the need to take a TukTuk. The hospitality here was exceptional. The owner personally took us to an elephant stable, where we had the incredible experience of feeding and bathing the elephants. After that, he showed us around the local temples and market. Later in the day, a staff member brought us to see the famous Kandy dance performance, which was fantastic. We also mentioned that we were interested in a cooking class, and the staff immediately arranged a private Sri Lankan cooking experience at the hotel. It was an unforgettable way to learn about the local cuisine. The owner even helped us with train tickets and accompanied us to the station to ensure everything went smoothly. Overall, our stay was a 10/10, and we highly recommend UDF City Hotel to anyone visiting Kandy! We will be back :)
