The NeNe Nest was the most amazing little beach house just tucked back from the shore! It’s gorgeous Hawaiian foliage added to the character of this original plantation cottage and it was well stocked with kitchen and beach items to enhance your stay. Nearby so many good restaurants and activities on the south side of Kauai island, the house was in such a good location! We absolutely loved our stay and would 100% stay here again! Mahalo!

Nene nest rocks!

The owners were extremely available for communication. They adapted to our needs very easily and actually retrieved the last item and mailed it back to me. The house was amazing and we loved every minute of our stay.

The Quiet of the Nest

The Nene Nest was absolutely perfect! We had most of our meals at the Nest as it was perfect eating on the porch and ending the evening with a card game. We could head to the crowds of Poipu or play in the waves at a quiet beach near by. The canyon was a short drive and a must see! The little store in town has the best poke and everyone was incredibly friendly! We also stayed at a resort on the other side of the island - but preferred the privacy and comfort of this beautiful cottage. We will book again for our next visit! Thank you!!

Amazing little gem

Perfect for us. We loved this little place and it started to feel like home in the short period we stayed. Easy walk to the ocean and just up the road from our favorite beach. Would go back in a heartbeat.

This was our second stay at the Nene Nest. We love everything about this house both inside and out! The inside is very clean, well stocked and comfortable. The yard is very private and quiet…love the outdoor shower and it is just a short walk to get to the beach for sunsets. What a way to end each day! Melissa gets an A for communication and we are very thankful that she and Kyle love sharing their beautiful home and town with us! Most definitely 5 stars!

Amazing Family Stay

Our family really enjoyed staying at the Nene Nest! It was extremely comfortable and charming. Our 10 year old son loved searching for lizards and toads in the yard. Listening to the ocean and birds made the experience feel magical and peaceful. We especially appreciated all the beach supplies provided and it made our beach days super easy. The communication with Melissa was fantastic! We had a small issue with an AC unit and it was resolved immediately! Don’t hesitate to book this property- do it now, you won’t regret it!

Beautiful and refreshing

We loved staying at Nene Nest and really enjoyed the West side of Kauai. It is close to a lot of hiking in the Waimea Canyon and to a wonderful scuba diving operation Explore Kauai. The neighborhood was quiet and not touristy at all. Nene Nest was extremely clean and very comfortable.

The most magical honeymoon getaway

We could not be more grateful for our stay at the Nene nest! My husband and I both agreed it was the best accommodation we have ever stayed at. The location, character of the house, communication with the host, and all of the well-thought out amenities were incredible. We are already looking forward to our next stay. Perfect Location To Explore The Southwest Side

We stayed at the Nene Nest to explore the hikes of Waimea Canyon and Koke’e State Park. The location was great- close to the trails and Waimea Town itself in case we wanted to go out and eat or get groceries. The house was comfortable and in a very quiet location. Steps to the beach for sunsets, short driving distance to swimmable beaches. If you’re looking for a good home base to explore this area, I highly recommend the Nene Nest.

Love it!

The property was in a quiet neighborhood, with a quick walk to the beach. Plenty of area restaurants and shopping nearby. The house had everything we needed, a very comfortable bed and best of all an outdoor shower. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner on the lanai in the peaceful and secluded setting. With luck we’ll return soon to enjoy it all over again.

Cute cortage

We enjoyed this cute cottage. There were many small touches that we appreciated. We enjoyed the large spacious bedrooms with wonderful cross ventilation. The kitchen was adequate. We would have liked serving bowls and utensils. The proximity to the beach was great and we enjoyed the black sand. Wonderful sunsets. The proximity to our catamaran tour and Waimea Canyon was perfect. There is a lack of grocery stores and restaurants in Kekaha that we enjoyed on the north side of the island.

Amazing Place

We have waited for a while to get to come stay at the Nene Nest and we were so happy to have been able to stay for a whole week. The Nene nest is quiet, private and has everything you need. We enjoyed being away from most of the resorts as we got to experience a relaxing vacation. We will definitely be back to enjoy the lanai, the outdoor shower, the walk to the beach and the sunshine.

Charming authentic cottage in a fantastic location!

Our stay was truly magnificent! The cottage has been lovingly restored, beautifully appointed, and is in a great location. The sunsets at Kekaha are phenomenal, and all the things we wanted to do in Kauai were nearby, including Waimea Canyon, the Na Pali coast, and the Kauai Coffee Plantation. A special bonus was being on the non-touristy side, hearing the local language, and exploring the small towns. A huge thank you to our hosts!

Nene’s Nest

We had a lovely stay at Nene’s Nest Cottage. It was close to small boat Harbor for the boat excursion and to Waimea canyon. Also, there is a nice walkable white sand beach nearby. Stars at night were incredible. Melissa was very quick to respond to any questions. Everything in the cottage worked well including the air conditioning, washer and dryer.’

A Return to this Perfect Spot of Paradise

This was our second stay at Nene Nest and it won't be our last. The house is fully equipped and extremely comfortable. We spent most of our house time out on the lanai admiring the gorgeous vegetation and listening to the birds. This southwestern side of Kaua'i is a gem not to be missed and the same is true for the Nene Nest! Mahalo!

The NeNe Nest is a gem!

This is a great property and accurately described in the listing. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking. There are beach towels, chairs, boogie boards a cooler and umbrella for your beach days. The beds were very comfortable and the neighborhood felt safe. You can walk directly down to the beach from the home. There is also a larger beach a bit up the road. Salt Pond State Park is also close and has a nice swimming area with lifeguards on duty. Close in proximity to the cute little town of Waimea. Also not a far drive to Waimea Canyon or Port Allen. We appreciated the location of the home and the daily visits from the rooster next door. I would highly recommend this property and we would definitely stay again!

Perfect!

The Nene Nest is such a gorgeous bungalow with a beautifully landscaped yard! The house was very clean and had everything that we needed to make our stay super comfortable. We never used the air conditioner opting to have the big gorgeous windows open letting the cool night breeze in. We walked to the beach every night for sunset and it only took a few minutes…we loved being so close! The communication with both the owner and the property manager was excellent…with very quick responses to our questions! We have been coming to Kauai for many years and we would definitely stay at the Nene Nest again! It’s perfect!

First trip to Kauai

We had a great time on Kauai and the house was awesome! It has everything you need including beach towels and gear! We had a small issue and the owner was amazing and had it fixed immediately! We loved the house, the beds are comfy and the AC in the bedroom is awesome to get a little break from the heat. We all slept like babies! The famous Kauai roosters visited us every day!! LOL!! This side of the island had some really high surf when we were there so we didn't get to use the beach by the house but Salt Pond Beach just down the road is protected and was nice. We also went to Poipu beach and that was also more protected. We enjoyed our time on Kauai and at the Nene's Nest and look forward to another trip in the future. We would for sure stay here again.

Spring Break

Our family of 4 just spent an amazing week at the Nest and it was really amazing. We felt so lucky to be at this sweet little house instead of a big resort. The location is great as the beach across the street is the best. The location feels local, not touristy. You do have to drive to get to certain places - if you want - but driving in Hawaii is always beautiful. You just have to plan accordingly if you want to go to dinner in Princeville etc. as it is almost a 2 hour drive from the house. We didn't mind at all. We were always so happy to get back to the cozy house, with the amazing windows and breezes, cute kitchen, outdoor shower, and comfy beds. Everything was good about his house!! We hope to stay again on our next trip to Kauai. Special place! Thanks for sharing it with us!

Oasis in Kauai

I've been trying to figure out how to describe my stay at the Nene Nest but it is almost beyond description. It is an oasis of quiet days and nights. You can hear the waves, you can listen to the crickets at night when you star gaze. The lack of environmental light pollution in Kekaha makes the night sky explode with stars and the Milky Way. The roosters in the morning, at first, were a bit much but by the end of our stay, I enjoyed listening to them call to one another as the sun rose. But know, they are loud lol The house itself instantly felt like home. It has everything you need (I coveted the fridge), and the Victrola Bluetooth speaker let us play our playlists quietly in the background while making breakfast, lunch or dinner. It was the perfect launching spot to see the island from Polihale to Kapa'a and beyond. Kauai is beautiful island that takes the aloha spirit seriously and makes you feel like ohana by the time you leave. It was important for us to recognize the Native Hawaiian people, their spirit, and respect the land we walked on. The Nene Nest was a very good place to embrace the spirit of aloha and find the rhythm of the island itself. Melissa was super responsive to the all our questions, suggestions, and concerns. She is an awesome host. We are definitely planning a return trip to the Nest.
