i wish i could give ZERO stars. we landed early so we can spend time at the beach before our 4pm check in. we arrived at the location. early to register as requested, and came back at 4pm only to see the condo with the door being propped open with a trash bag and someone inside the unit. the assigned parking spot was occupied by a vehicle and we had nowhere to park. we went to the front office, which the girls who were so friendly and helpful informed us that they don’t have any way of knowing who it might be in the unit and they contacted vacasa for us to get more information. vacasa representative also didn’t know who it could be and after confirming my reservation they stated they would call me back with more information. we waited and waited, we eventually had to leave to get drinks and food for our kids who were forced to sit and wait in the car while vacasa was trying to figure out who was in the unit. vacasa phone rep even asked if i could see who it was, and what car was parked in the assigned parking which i declined to do because it wasn’t my job to do so and i didn’t feel comfortable approaching the unit with someone inside. after waiting over an hour, both my husband and i decided to go to the unit again to see if the person had left, the same car was still parked in the assigned parking spot, and when we approached the unit the front door was open, full trash bags everywhere and the dryer was running. a lady came out who appeared to be stressed and frustrated telling us “i’ll be done in about 10-15 minutes” after calling vacasa multiple times we finally got a representative who was willing to escalate our call and stated she would be reaching out to the local management. once we finally gained access to the unit after almost 2 hrs after our promised check in time, we found the unit to be dirty, dusty, filled with ants and unsure if the bed linen, pillows, and or chairs and couch had at all been cleaned or sanitized. we found hair in the showers, dirt and grime buildup around the facets, the floor was filthy and would turn our bare feet black if we didn’t wear shoes, there were stains and dirt marks on the walls, the plates and dishes were dirty in the cupboard, the curtains were ripped and torn, the unit itself smelled stale and funky, nothing smelled clean or fresh. there was a bowl of white substance left in the fridge. after we called and complained about the unit and how we arrived only to not be able to check in, we were offered apologies and refund of our cleaning fee. we never received the refund, only a future stay credit. this was the most uncomfortable and unsanitary stay we’ve ever been forced to stay in. after spending thousands of dollars for our entire family to travel to maui, and stay in this unit it was a complete disappointment. these condo units are privately owned, and we had friends staying in different units within the same property. it was very clear and obvious that this unit was one of the most run down, dirty snd unsanitary units. you can tell the owners of this unit does now invest in it, everything was old and run down. their cleaning team is horrible and this unit is in desperate need of renovation and deep cleaning. WE WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN AND WE RECOMMEND ANYONE INTERESTED TO STAY CLEAR.
