  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Great spot on the beach for our family and dogs

Specifically reserved this house as it is in Duck where the pups can run free on the beach. The house was super dog friendly with multiple gates restricting access to the beach from the porch, but giving free access to the dog run. The house had plenty of kitchenware and a huge table to seat everyone or do puzzles! Don't plan to use the grill though! Property management was awesome as well. We had a few maintenance things that needed to be addressed and they fixed them right away. Definitely would stay here again!

The views from the deck were amazing. Easy beach access although a lot of steps. The top deck was huge and made a great playground for the grandchildren. Lots of space in the great room for everyone and we all could sit at the dining room table with room to spare.

Location can't be beat!

Great spot on the beach. Great house. Could use a little TLC but didn't affect ability to enjoy the stay. Decks out to the beach and sitting in the hot tub listening to the ocean were wonderful.

Spring 2021

Duck Down was clean, well stocked and had amazing, ocean views. It has a wonderful, fenced yard and deck for dogs and the floor plan is perfect for families. We enjoyed being so close to all of the shops and restaurants! Thanks for a great vacation!

Location is amazing

We really enjoyed our trip and time at Duck Downs. The convenience to bring our dog and have a family friendly house right on the water was unbeatable. To walk down and back to the beach throughout the day made it so much easier than packing and loading up everything. The house itself is clean and has what you need for your vacation, though it feels a little weathered.
