  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The location was wonderful. The property itself, unfortunately, not so much. The kitchen, living room and exterior deck was very nice, but the rest of the house was dark and creepy. The bedroom # 2 light turned itself on at night, which was strange. The bathrooms very extremely outdated and tight. And I came back once to the tv turned on with the sound turned all the way up, even though no one was home. Both my friend and I were glad to leave at then end of the trip. Loved Duck, but would never stay there again.

Excellent Location

We had a great time at the property and would absolutely go back. The location was perfect. It was within a reasonable walking distance down a quiet road to the beach, and very close to all of the shops and restaurants in Duck. The property itself fit our small family's needs and we were very thankful to be able to include our two dogs on our trip. Thank you for having us.

Nice quiet property

This property needs few updates but overall we enjoyed our stay there. It was enough for 4 people and a dog. The kitchen and leaving area are newly renovated and comfortable! It a cozy place to spend your summer vacation!
