“We had 4 couples and 4 kids, and booked almost 2 years in advance for the eclipse. The Rusty Rio is quaint and what it appears to be....a fun and "campy" spot. The only gripe we had was that when we booked, we filtered rentals that had hot tubs, and hot tub was listed as an amenity. It didn't work, and likely hasn't for many years. When we contacted the host, we were advised that it does not work and never has, and that the amenity listing was an error. With that being said, everything else was……

“Close to everything! Beautiful view of Old Baldy in Garner State Park! Although we didn’t get to float (drought) we had fun playing in the river/pool. It was all within short walking distance! Very cute little cabin! Staff was very nice and friendly!”

“The Cozy cabin was perfect for my wife and I. It was so quiet and peaceful and so close to the Frio River and the town of Leakey. We will definitely be staying at the Whiskey Mountain Inn on our next trip down there.”

“The house had everything we needed, love all the outside eating spaces. Nice to be close to Hippy Chicks and a quick mart. The walk to the river with babies and all the gear wasn’t easy but the river was worth it!”

“The pros- the location is great. Even though it is right next to a multi-house rental the fence made the house feel private. The AC worked great. The house was always cool. The cons - The interior does not match the pictures. There is a different couch and different furniture. There were no paper towels and only a roll of toilet paper and 2 trash bags for 4 people staying 5 nights. We killed 2 stinging scorpions. It would of been nice to have a place (in the living room) to put belongs other……

“We enjoyed our weekend stay at The Lonestar Lodge. There was more than we gathered from the pictures. The front porch was nice to sit on with some coffee in the morning, and in the evenings with ceiling fans. The barbecue area also has plenty of chairs and a picnic table to gather while cooking. There is a swing on a tree up front, and a fire pit in the yard to sit around. It is a 2 acre lot with plenty of yard space to play some games and let the kids run around. We like the horseshoe seating……

“This little cabin is exactly what we were hoping for! Secluded, great covered patios in front and back, and back patio is so relaxing! Hummingbird feeder, bird feeders and birdbath all get a lot of activity, plus a great view of the deer, turkeys and hogs when they come out to eat. This place had everything we needed…charcoal grill, cookware, coffee, etc. very clean as well. Buddy the cat was great company too! Definitely would come back!”

“This property has a great location. Super close to everything you need on River Rd. It is stocked with the basic necessities. Plenty of space for everyone. Some of the other reviews mentioned the a/c not keeping up. There are notes near each thermostat telling you exactly how low you can go with the temp. I’m 51. 72 is warm for me but the other guests were ok. We were also on the river during hottest parts of the day. It cooled down nicely at night. 😊”

“Bedding wasn't crisp/clean, seemed not fresh. Outer door and bathroom door had grease handprints, should have been wiped down. Broken toilet tissue holder. Bed was hard and made lots of noise being some lightweight metal frame.”
