We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel. This was one of the best stay we had. The hall mark of this stay was their food . I have no words to describe how tasty their food was. OMG they had so many items in breakfast that you name it and they had it. They must have an excellent cook who made every dishes so palatable and tasty. At least for the food they deserve 10 stars. If for no other reasons one must stay here for their food. You cannot go wrong for staying here. We are looking forward to staying again when we return to Kolkata

Ethnotel, Kolkata is a very nice property close to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata, India. The rooms are good, staff members are very helpful. The quality of food and beverages from the in-property restaurant is pretty good. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who likes to stay close to the Kolkata International Airport.

I have always chosen Ethnotel, but I am very disappointed this time. After entering the room, I realized it was not ready; the bathroom wasn't cleaned properly, and they didn’t provide any toilet paper. Some very basic amenity items that I always used to receive from this hotel are missing this time. Overall, it was not a good experience. I hope the property will rectify these shortcomings sooner rather than later.

Disappointing Stay – Overcharged and Poor Experience I initially booked a room through Expedia for $23, including taxes. However, after completing my payment by card, the final charge was $41. I contacted Expedia about this discrepancy but have not received a response. Upon check-in, I clarified this issue with the hotel, but they were unhelpful and said there was nothing they could do. Additionally, as a Maldivian citizen, I do not require a visa, yet the hotel insisted on seeing one. I repeatedly explained this to them, even showing the information online that Maldivians get a 90-day visa-free stay. This led to a frustrating and unwelcoming debate during check-in. The room itself was very disappointing. The photos online did not match the actual condition of the room. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and the room was so cold it felt damp. I barely slept due to the cold and the uncomfortable bed. The bathroom was not clean or well-maintained either, adding to the unpleasant experience. I was looking for an affordable option for a one-night stay, but I ended up paying more than expected for a place that fell far below acceptable standards. Overall, I’m very dissatisfied with this experience.

It is a decent hotel. But our bathroom was not practical, when taking a shower everything became wet. And it took a little while to have hot water. But I have had worse hotels.
