A friendly northern Kruger outpost

The hotel is rustic and the staff is very friendly and the room was clean. Is a good spot to BBQ as a self-catering unit, since the grill is right outside the room. Excellent breakfast and attentive staff. Cold beers and hot chips at the patio bar. The location is optimal for visits to Kruger NP via the Punda Maria gate.

Eigentlich hübsche Anlage, aber

Sauberkeit ließ zu wünschen übrig. Wir nutzten z.B. lieber unsere eigene Bettwäsche. Das Zimmer war voller Mücken. Nachdem wir etwa 20 erwischt hatten, besorgten wir an der Rezeption Mückenspray und nebelten den Raum erst einmal ein. Nach der Besichtigung des angeschlossenen Restaurants verzichteten wir sowohl auf ein Abendessen als auch am Morgen auf das inkludierte Frühstück. Die Unterkunft entsprach nicht unserem Anspruch und ist eher für Backpacker geeignet. Dafür ist sie dann aber sicher etwas zu teuer.

Grounds and staff are excellent..but

As I checked in at night, my first impression of the property and amenities was not a fair evaluation. I will put this first for the readers. The grounds and this property during the daylight was splendid. Breakfast was a good experience as well. I do encourage a walkabout during the daylight to fully appreciate the flora and fauna around. The pool and bar area, water features, etc. However, I checked in at night and I was disappointed in 3 things upon check in, and fairly so. 1) WiFi.. Upon check-in I was informed that wifi was only available in the lobby of the property. Would not have been a real issue if that would have been noted in the description and if the walk to my chalet was not so far at night. Chalets are spread around the grounds. 2) Restaurant..while there is a restaurant, it was still a walk to the restaurant to order then a walk back with the food. I was not prepared for this as I had packed my computer, camera, etc to do work and did not feel safe walking around at night with this equipment on my back searching for food. My expectation was that it would be in the lobby. The dinner experience should be similar to the breakfast experience..where you order in the lobby, sit and work or wait, and the food is then prepared and delivered by staff. 3) Bed sheets were stained when I finally did get to my chalet. This is 100% unacceptable under any circumstances. The stains were visible and I slept on the duvet and extra blanket.

Good stop over and good value.

This was a stop over for us on our way to Kruger. The restaurant provided us with an affordable braii for dinner and we self catered for breakfast. Wifi does not work well.

good location on road from Kruger Punda Maria Gate

phoned for directions as gps useless and found it easily as it was signposted on the main road from the Kruger Punda Maria Gate. security gate opened quickly, lovely young lady showed me to my room and explained how everything worked plus system for dinner and breakfast. room a bit tired with plugs/wires everywhere but it all worked, including the a/c which was terrific and very necessary. mosquito net in room over bed but didn't need it as I sprayed the room before dinner. big bed, lots of pillows, quality bedding. effective shower with plenty of h/w. staff at dinner efficient and friendly - food good and plenty of it. slept well, brekky, ordered night before, nice.not luxury but would stay again.
