This place has the best view in town. We loved our morning coffee’s in the kitchen patio. The hotel is beautiful, historic with lots of light. It is clean, comfortable and nicely maintained. We would love to come back for a longer stay.

El Retiro del Obispo is a paradise in the middle of La Rioja area. If you love wine, good food, good people, this is the place to stay. Easy parking next door. The town is very small, you can walk it in 5 mins but on the other end, my G-d, the view is breathtaking. Terri, the owner is just exceptional. We went and unfortunately our little girl was sick and she was nothing but excellent. Very understanding, accommodating, helping us. El Retiro del Obispo is the place to stay.

Stayed 2 nights, excellent location, great host, unique city. Don't be concerned about the parking, it is much easier than it seems. Plenty of restaurants and bars in the Old City so you don't need to worry about driving anywhere for dinner. No elevator so be aware if you are staying on a top floor, but its definitely worth the climb.

This is a must book! The location is perfectly situated in Laguardia, on a quiet end but two minute walk to everything you need. Terri and Robert were incredible hosts—from recommendations to booking wine tours and dinner reservations for us. Everything we did that they recommended was wonderful. Fabulous wine tours in the underground cellars beneath the city. Delicious food—everything from light pintxos to multi-course meals. Laguardia is very picturesque and the perfect getaway. We hope to visit again soon!

Memorable and remarkable stay at El Retiro Obispo

Terri and Robert were most hospitable and the beautiful rooms and property were beyond our expectations. Every detail was well thought out with everything we needed. Terri was so helpful with suggestions for the area and hooked us up with two amazing winery tours. The walled city of LaGuardia is fairytale-like and charming and we were sad to leave it behind!

Magical El Retiro de Obispo!

Came to celebrate 2 great friends wedding and decided to stay in Laguardia. What an amazing village and the overnight accommodations were all i had hoped. The beautiful sunrise in the morning was incredible as it peeked by the mountains. I will be back again!

As Perfect as it Looks

The inn has been beautifully restored. Our room was lovely. We spent 24 days in Spain and stayed in 9 hotels. El Retiro Obispo was by far the best overall. It's exceptional, along with host Terri. She went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. She booked two very different but equally delicious winery tours and lunches for us when we asked for her help.

Quirky apartments and excellent host.

The building apartments have been finished in a quirky semi medieval style, with flickering hall wall lights. Everything is new and works perfectly. Our host, Robert, greeted us on arrival and spent plenty of time showing us round and recommending breakfast options, as the property is self catering. We would sray here again. Laguardia is a brilliant place for a 3 day stay.

WOW just WOW!! This is a must stay. Terri, the owner has thought of everything. The rooms are elegant, furnished in beautiful antiques and lovely Franco’s and colours that capture old Spain. Included is a kitchen in your suite and am amazing shared kitchen on the 5th floor with an wonderful patio overlooking the unique landscape of this region. Terri and her partner Robert were the most accommodating hosts. They will help you enjoy this wine region with whatever you want to do. From biking to wine tours, they will guide you in the right direction. What a gem. Highly recommended.

Charming and Cozy Inn

Terri was an exceptional host! Not only did she provide us with great recommendations for things to do and places to eat, she took care of making all the reservations for us! El Retiro is a very charming and cozy Inn. Our room was exceptionally clean and the bed very comfortable. We also appreciated the communal kitchen and terrace on the top floor.

My husband and I loved this property- the building and room were lovely, the town is charming and the location is perfect for visiting wineries in La Rioja. Terri was a great communicator and she and her husband have lovingly restored this building into a wonderful retreat. We would highly recommend!

We had a very pleasant stay at El Retiro del Obispo. The property has been lovingly restored by its new owners with great attention to detail. Excellent bedding and amenities. Very accommodating hosts. Be mindful that there is construction directly behind the property, and they start work fairly early during the week. Non issue on weekends. Highly recommended property.

Like staying in a luxury castle!

The rooms here are large and absolutely beautiful! The owners recently remodeled, and the attention to detail is evident throughout, while still staying with the theme of this quaint, midieval town. The beds were the most comfortable I've encountered on a trip, with luxurious sheets and towels. We had the room with a kitchen and it was large, and fully stocked. The town is a dream for history lovers, with no cars inside the walled city...you truly feel you've stepped back in time. The owner Terri is very responsive and helpful with anything you can think of. A great stay!

Gelegen in de ommuurde stad Laguardia. Alles dus op loopafstand. Zeer vriendelijke en behulpzame eigenaren. Charmante kamer, van alle gemakken voorzien. Wel wat warm (geen airco, we verbleven eind juli). Dakterras met volledig uitgeruste keuken op bovenste verdieping.
