First off, the photos do not do this property justice. The home is more beautiful than the photos indicate. Something we really enjoyed about the home was the layout. You enter into a big, open kitchen-living room, and there are two bedrooms with a Jack & Jill bedroom separating each on both sides. We found this to be absolutely great for traveling with family. Being that the leaves had fallen from the trees, we had a peak of a lake view which was another pleasant surprise!
We’ve lost count of how many times we’ve visited the area but have never stayed on this side of the lake. There are numerous restaurants within 10-15 to choose from; the new smokehouse in Chimney Rock was our favorite. Highland Kitchen and Bar is a little bit further but another repeat favorite of ours. Highly recommend both if you’re looking to dine out. Ingles (grocery store) is about 15 minutes away which was helpful when we needed a pharmacy.
Now, some things we didn’t enjoy. We pulled up to the community realizing we needed a gate code to enter but hadn’t been provided one; I looked back through all my emails and couldn’t locate it anywhere, only the front door code. We got lucky and a friendly resident helped us and even showed us where the house was. The community was wonderful, everyone we encountered was extremely friendly, though a bit off the beaten track. On Thanksgiving morning, we woke up to the oven not working when we tried to make breakfast. Later that day, we found a chunk of broken glass on the rug by the couch which could have done some damage to someone’s feet. Everything appeared to be clean but it made you wonder.
