We have stayed here before and everything was good. This trip, well...not so much. But perhaps not a dealbreaker as it was due to just a single employee. We arrived in the afternoon on a cold day in Kansas. I think it was 37 degrees. I checked us in and went to the room. The A/C was on. That or the HVAC unit was malfunctioning. I could not get it to switch to heat. I went back to the front desk to inform them it would need fixing or we would need another room. The young lady was nice, explaining to me that sometimes it just needs a bit of time to reset and go to heat. What?? I told her I needed to leave for dinner with local family and that I would return much later in the evening. She agreed to check the unit and figure out what needed to be done. We returned around 9:00 pm and the room was as cold as an icebox. Now I had to go back downstairs and demand a different room, preferably one with a heater. Armed with new room keys we went back up, grabbed all of our luggage and went to a different room on a different floor. The heater worked just fine and, honestly, the room was great. We loved it. Our stay was for two nights. When we returned for the second night, the room keys would not work. I know what happened. When the young lady issued us keys for our new room, she did not key it for a 2-night stay. Now back down to the desk to get the keys activated for our second night. Everything else was good. Nobody from the hotel ever reach out to us. That was disappointing.
