Chalet in French Alps - Beautiful, quiet location

Located in an unspoilt corner of the French Alps, Chalet Vif is a perfect location for a winter or summer vacation, with breathtaking views over the Aravis mountain range.
The Chalet is built in traditional Alpine style on 3 floors with 4 bedrooms. There are 2 balconies, one off the main bedroom and one off the large lounge. The south facing aspect ensures plenty of sun and gives stunning views of the Aravis mountain range and the surrounding countryside.
The town is still very much considered a hidden secret within the French Alps with its lovely village shops, church, tree lined square and regular market. There is a thriving community throughout the year and the summers as much as the winters have become popular for outdoor sports and relaxing in the sunshine. The chalet has easy access to the ski lift network of Le Grand Bornand and Chinaillon, and La Clusaz is just a10-minute drive away. Nordic skiing is also excellent: Le Grand Bornand is a host of the Biathlon World Cup


Skiing: Over 200km of pistes skiing in the Aravis range. All types of skiing are available with pistes to suit all abilities including the 2nd steepest black run in Europe. Queues are rare and the area has a good snow record. Snow cannons extending the ski season which lasts from December 15 to April 15 but often open earlier and later. Direct access to the lift network is in the middle of Le Grand Bornand and the snow bus stops only a few metres away at the end of the lane, giving access to Chinaillon, La Clusaz and St Jean De Sixt. The area has 120 pistes, including 5 black, 30 red, 45 blue and 40 green runs. There are 98 ski lifts, 2 snow parks, 2 competition stadiums and night skiing.
The Aravis ski pass is great value and covers all the resorts in the area.

Summer Activities: A wide range of activities are available including mountain walks, parapenting, archery, trampolining, petanque, tennis, table tennis, mountain biking, horse riding, white water rafting, canyoning, hot air ballooning, fishing, karting and snooker.
There is an extensive outdoor swimming pool complex in the village.
Golfers are well catered for with a 9 hole course in Le Grand Bornand and several 18 hole courses within an hours drive.
The beautiful city of Annecy and its lake with beaches is only 40 mins away by car.

We were 2 families staying in the chalet for a ski holiday. It was perfect for what we needed. In a quiet location just outside Le Grand Bornand. We had cars and drove down to the lift every day which worked well. We walked down in to the town one day although the hill back up is quite steep. Highly recommended.

Très joli chalet avec une magnifique vue sur les Aravis.Proche du village, on peut y aller sans problème à pied.Le village est très sympa, proche de la Clusaz et d'Annecy pour les jours un peu moins beau pour skier.Je recommande, il y a vraiment largement tout le nécessaire pour y passer de bonnes vacances.

Nous avons passé la deuxième semaine de Noël avec un. couple d'amis et leurs enfants dans le chalet de Ian et je le recommande à tout le monde, Ian est très gentil, la procédure d'arrivée est parfaite, tout est présent dans le logement, l'accès au village et au piste est a proximité. Tout y est pour passer de superbe vacances, allez y les yeux fermés. Merci encore à Ian pour son accueil, nous reviendrons si nous le pouvons. Bonne année.

We stayed in the chalet for one week. It's on a nice location with good views of the skilifts Rosay and, a bit further, La Joyere. You can see the skislope that is running in to Le Grand-bornand. Skibus runs very close by, although taking the car is also very convenient. The chalet is spacious, with a garage, bedroom and small bathroom on the ground floor ( ideal for our teenagers) and three nice bedrooms and bathroom on the second floor. The sunny livingroom/kitchen is well equipped and spacious enough for the seven of us. We enjoyed the chalet very much and...had a little throwback in time when we discovered the "vintage" videotape player...now we were able to show our kids how we used to spend our evenings...pre-Netflix time.. Ian is a very welcoming host, replies very quickly when there's a question. Would def. recommend staying in Chalet Vif in beautiful Le Grand Bornand.

Le propriétaire fourni toutes les indications nécessaires et le chalet a tout ce dont on a besoin ! Le seul petit bémol c’est la mauvaise isolation du chalet. Sinon lit très confortable, salon très agréable, chalet parfaitement équipé, a proximité de la navette.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour en famille. Le chalet est très confortable, fonctionnel et bien situé pour aller skier (arrêt navette à proximité) ou pour se déplacer au village. Vue exceptionnelle sur les Aravis et chalet très lumineux.

Très bon séjour chez Ian. Nous étions 10 (2 couples et 6 enfants dont 2 bébés. Le chalet est agréable et adapté pour 8 personnes. Il est sur les hauteurs donc dispose d’une très belle vue. Est situé à 15 minutes environ du centre ville mais attention, le chemin est en pente et donc en montée dans l’autre sens. Nous l’avons fait avec des poussettes donc c’est faisable mais c’est sportif! Heureusement il y a des navettes/bus qui nous déposent à quelques minutes à pied du chalet. Le chalet est propre et la cuisine est très bien équipée. Ian nous a transmis toutes les informations nécessaires. Il a été très sympathique. Je recommande!

Well equipped kitchen. Plenty of comfortable seating. Lovely views from the balconies. Could have done with some more pillows for the beds. Short walk to village, quite steep, but fine if you take your time coming up. Village had a lovely atmosphere and there were different activities and nice places to eat. We had a lovely time, lots if walking and didn't need to use the car very much for the almost 2 weeks we were there.

Séjour agréable en famille dans ce chalet bien équipé et situé à 8 min en voiture des télécabines du Grand Bornand. Seul bémol, une chambre toute seule au rez de chaussé avec 2 lits superposés alors que les 3 autres chambres sont au 2ème étage - compliqué d'y faire dormir seuls de jeunes enfants (trop éloignés des parents).

Chalet Vif is close to the town; approximately a 15 minute walk (note that the walk back up is steep). The kitchen was well equipped and the living space was comfortable. We travelled with children and the 4th bedroom with bunk beds was on the garage floor, separate from the other 3 bedrooms which were located on the 2nd floor. We were a group of 5. Overall, a very comfortable stay.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour au chalet Vif pour notre semaine de vacances de Noël en famille. Le chalet est très bien situé et très fonctionnel. La communication avec Ian et très fluide et nous avons eu toutes les informations nécessaires au bon déroulement de notre séjour. Nous recommandons ce chalet et n'hésiterons pas à revenir si nous sommes de passage dans la région.
