Great location, modern amenities. Liked the automated checkin. Their phones were not working all day Saturday (we called them 10x to get a busy signal and then straight to voicemail). We also emailed them and was told they never got an email. We needed to let them know we were checking in after dinner as we had drove 6 hours into town for the football game. We got into bed at 10pm, only to be woken up every single hour by people SCREAMING at the top of their lungs through the streets, in the parking lot, near our door. Then there was a group of people (4-6) about 10 feet from our door from 2am-4:30am partying without thinking one thing about people trying to sleep. I messaged the hotel to just get a “we’re sorry for the noise” message. There should be a protocol in place for stuff like this. This is our first stay here and we have future stays booked, but we are hesitant. Asked for a noon checkout which they granted. Overall we got zero sleep and had to drive back 6 hours home. Completely exhausted.

Very cute updated motel. We don’t normally go for hotels with exterior entrances, but the owners did a great job making this place feel hip, cozy, and safe all at the same time. Loved all the restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, wine bars, etc. that are within a few blocks of the motel.

Monarch Motel has been renovated and fits the university "vibe" well! Moscow's fun & bohemianesque downtown area is literally around the corner. I had a first floor room and the noise between the rooms was a bit distracting and operating the TV was challenging. A How-To guide would be helpful. Sadly, we were not able to dine at their restaurant, Nectar. Several friends told us it is a very good restaurant. My next trip to Moscow, I hope the Monarch will have a room available!

The Monarch was close to campus, dog friendly, and cute. We were able to walk to a number of really great restaurants and the coffee shop next door was excellent. Staff was friendly and helpful!

I at least have never stayed at a motel when I didn't see a receptionist, but just had a code texted to me and walked in. Since it was late, that was rather convenient. In the morning, I did meet the receptionist, and she kind, bubbly, and a delight. Shower was very gentle. A showerhead that gave more power would have been a great plus. If I were doing more than spending the night, I would have preferred a less noisy location, but it was okay for what we needed this trip.

The Monarch was nice enough, checking was fairly easy, they font make you sign a bunch of stuff. My issue was the stair railings and steps were old, but mostly it was just noisy. Noise from the busy street, and barking dogs. The provided earplugs show that management is aware of this, but for me it was a dealbreaker. The location was wonderful.
