The hotel leaves a mixed impression. Located in the historic center of the city, beautiful and majestic on the outside, it feels tired and aged on the inside. Many things need either updating or replacing (plumbing, beds, modest room decor, no phone, no safe, no kettle, unstable internet, etc.). At the same time, in terms of price-to-quality ratio, one matches the other — room prices are quite reasonable and affordable. Overall, it's a good and convenient place for exploring Lima, its history and landmarks, but not entirely comfortable for staying.

This once stately Grand Hotel, built on the European model, has declined into a sad condition and is barely a ghost of what I saw for the first time in November of 1961. Where Hemingway would get soused on Pisco sours and where other celebrities would enjoy a fashionable stay, where Packard limousines waited to carry guests about the city, the only vestige of its former glory is the opulent bar. The rest is a dingey barebones operation gasping for air, hoping it has enough money to cover the cost of replacing a light bulb. Its gloomy hallways are a better setting for The Shining. Sparse, creaky furniture and paltry amenities place it a step away from being a monastery. The dining room's wait staff needs training, especially in wines. The front desk performs with fine courtesy and precision; that, and the signature Cathedral pisco sours, is the saving grace.

A living piece of history located in the central district. So cool to stay in this grand old hotel and realize all who have stayed there from Hemingway to The Rolling Stones. Family of 4 with 11 and 17 year olds from Florida. The staff is friendly and accommodating.

The hotel needs a solid refresh an investment if is is to remain a place where tourists and professionals will choose to stay while in Lima. Not good value for the money. The location is great of course, in the middle of historic Lima, besides that, the wi-fi is not stable/reliable, neither is the hot water in the morning. I would not stay again if I am to come back to Lima.
