“This was our 2nd stay in Villa Varkoula. It’s a simple but lovely villa, with pool and great views of hills. Very peaceful. A joy to watch the swallows/swifts dipping down to sip from the swimming pool, a few sightings of an eagle and cute bats in the evening. A car is essential, but the town of Lixouri and several lovely and not too busy beaches are all within a short drive. Perfect for a quiet getaway or as a base to explore the wonderful island of the Kephalonia.”

“Apartments were traditional basic Greek, as we expected. But we’re clean and perfectly adequate for what we wanted. The pool and loungers were wonderful - a real key attraction. Not too busy and easily got a longer even in the middle of August. At the pool bar, the food and service was great. Only minor comments are that the bar could be pricey - certainly not somewhere you would want to purchase from all day. But we knew this from other reviews. Also, it is up a big hill. But it is manageable……

“I won't repeat all the positive comments left by other guests. We agree with them all. The 3 things that we particularly loved about this hotel were the pool area, the pool bar, and the bed! The pool area is as nice as any 5 star hotel we have stayed in. Spacious and clean. The view is hard to beat. The pool bar has a great vibe all day long, even into the evening.
