"Warm & welcoming. A lovely hotel "

"I’m extremely fussy and very particular, however I thought this hotel was absolutely lovely! The majority of staff were great, the food was wonderful and it was clean, comfortable, homely and had a really nice ambience. I’ve knocked a star off for little things like tiny plates for breakfast (what’s that all about?), crumbs were still all over our floor after the room had been cleaned, the floor to the shower was lethally slippy, the breakfast wasn’t kept hot (luke warm at best), and the coffee was revolting (You’re missing out on a trick there …… imagine if you invested in a PROPER coffee machine and cakes - you’d make a killing)! Not overly impressed at being charged £25 per person (as a guest) to use the pool/spa. However, none of the above detracted from a lovely stay. We’d definitely stay here again. "

"There was a good breakfast, hot and tasty, a good selection. The staff were helpful and friendly. My bedroom was snug and warm. The bar was good."

"Booked a standard double but it was very small. I would call it more like an economy room. Mirror in bedroom not in a good place and was small. The bed was very firm and not very comfortable. Otherwise the place was very clean, all staff very friendly and helpful, location is very good."

"Mixed reviews for this hotel. Breakfast was good. We liked the cabin we rented, however condition wasn't as wonderful as the rating says. Initially it looked great but on closer inspection the bedside lamps were broken. The TV was slow to start, the plug fittings were coming of the wall. We were mostly disappointed with restrictions on children using the pool. We planned our arrival to go to the pool but due to restrictions we were not able to use the facilities. When we did use the pool and spa the next day the facilities were ok. No shampoo in showers and broken dispensers. Hairdryer was dangerously hot and we had to use a towel to hold. This hotel definitely has good potential just need to pay attention to detail. "

"Good breakfast with adequate choices. Room 214 spotless. Excellent location. Some parts of the hotel are tired and dated, especially the reception area. But it would not put us off staying again for the price and spotless room. "

"All very good indeed. Comfortable and clean room, with good upkeep throughout my stay. A perfect location overlooking the town, beautiful Edwardian buildings in the Arts and Crafts style, fine views from my windows. Excellent breakfasts, served from 7.30 onwards for those wanting an early start. Staff friendly and helpful. And amazing value for money all round. "

"The hotel is so old and was falling apart. The pool was in a sketchy basement with the lining of the pool coming up and bubbling. Our room had a shower with only hot water, springs poking out of the mattress and a toilet that didn't Flush. DO NOT stay here it's awful. s"
