My partner and I travel consistently for work, and have stayed in plenty of "interesting" flats, but never have we walked into a room and immediately known we had made a mistake. This building was basically an upscale dorm, with paper thin walls so that you heard normal level conversations, and other activities. The room smelled of cigarettes, sewage and chemicals. There was not a single paper towel or kitchen towel. Representatives of the rental company would not help us move to a different location, took over 48 hours to respond, and VRBO's response was similarly unhelpful. We will never book through VRBO again. Leaving customers to fend for themselves in a foreign country, where there is a language barrier, to respond to a good faith request for help with a shrug is, as the children say, not the vibe.
