Hostal Los Alpes had a nice clean cheery room for us, very well appointed: we had mini microwave, mini fridge, electric kettle, three ceramic cups, three glasses, coffee, tea and even condensed milk with mini muffins and candies. There was a mini safe in the wardrobe (that we did not use). The receptionist was helpful, the cleaning lady was making our beds every day and even did our laundry per request (10 euros). Location was pretty good, in the walkable center and right next to Gran Via metro station and bus stops (buy a tourist transportation card, it is very convenient) . The street itself is lined with shops, and there are more of them on Gran Via. Warning: the street is converted to a walkable only, so taxis/Uber may bring you to a parallel street and let you out to find your way to the actual place. We had to cross from this street through a small lane on the left side to Fuencarral street proper, and the location is a kitty corner from Victoria's Secret store. Another warning: if you are taller than 6 ft, the beds and bathtub may feel small for you. In general, we liked the place and would stay there again.
