“First of all -- this is a fantastic location. Looking out over the cathedral, and a few feet from the High Street, I can't imagine a better place to spend three weeks (as we did). I'd like to make a special comment about the front desk staff, who were always cheerful and helpful, especially Sophie, Liam, and the manager (whose name I'm sorry to say I've forgotten). Steve in the bar was also lovely. The price is very reasonable, and for that reason, and because of the lovely front-desk……

“Hotel serving large grounds and in a very peaceful tranquil setting . Hotel very good and was able to check in early. Staff at reception very pleasant . Room ( double classic) very comfortable but picture had shown bath but not one in room ( minor detail) Sat outside the bar during the after and numerous tables composing about delay in receding food and drink . One table over 40 minutes just for drinks , food even longer . Tables not cleared , with empty glasses and plates left there for an……

“We’ve booked one night here at first, then we decided to go there one day before and booked one more day. We told the reception lady when we arrived check in, she said it’s ok, no need to do the check in again and we could stay in the same room. The next day at ten mins before ten, a housekeeper locked on our door and told us to check out. We’re surprised and told her our case, she told us to check with the reception. Then the reception said we’ve to check out and come back by 4 to check in……

“Very welcome by the check-in staff. Room ready and spacious and bright, pet made very welcome with no problem. Two night stay used the restaurant both night. Menu full of choice excellent starters and main with great dessert. Second night choose from "bar menu" but in the restaurant, very good choice. Prices very competitive in restaurant and bar. Great stay.... even though we didn't visit the Zoo!!! ”

“Business trip. Nice stay nice pub nice staff although and I booked this B&B on the reviews I read (only the top 4 when viewing) if I had seen more reviews on the fact that they didn't do breakfast unless you book directly with them I would of chosen somewhere else. Also noted when leaving/checking-out the property you do so via the night entrance which the stairs down are very steep and you must be very careful if you have heavy or a large case with you. All that being said I did enjoy my stay.”

“Good value for the price we paid. Furniture is outdated and some visible stains on furniture, however room was clean and we had all the basics we needed, including clean towels and sheets. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would be nice if they could offer breakfast, but convenient Costa across the road. ”
