Very nice family-run ryokan that's on its fourth generation. Public transit won't get you there easily- but you don't have to worry- you can call ahead and they will pick you up Matsumoto station (at 3:30 or 5:30 pm.) They will also drive you out in the morning so you can catch public transit for your sightseeing. Great food, will make you want to come back for dinner! Definitely get their house made soba at least once. Rooms were large, comfy and traditional; a nice break from the semi-doubles I had been staying in.
