Disappointing Stay — Especially for a Concert Weekend We stayed at the Matrix Hotel in Edmonton this weekend for a concert, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. Check-in was at 3:00 p.m., but when we arrived at 3:20, we were told our room wasn’t ready and to come back in half an hour. Several other guests were in the same situation. For a busy concert weekend and the significantly higher room rates, I would have expected the hotel to have enough staff to handle the number of guests. We also had trouble with parking. The hotel’s guest parking was full, so we were directed to a nearby paid lot. When we returned for our room, we were then told we would be charged $30 for overnight parking. Given that we had been directed there because the hotel parking was full, I felt this was unreasonable. After I complained, the charge was waived. The room was clean but quite small. Considering the higher concert-weekend rate, I was also disappointed that parking and even the continental breakfast came at an additional cost. Check-out was quick and easy, but overall, I felt the stay offered poor value for the price. Based on this experience, I would not stay at the Matrix Hotel again.

Poor parking, no robes initially, robe delivered was old and torn. Towels were old and hard, Pillows only 3 initially were small and uncomfortable. Room configuration was odd, tv remote was slow. Air conditioning was ineffective
