“The stay was lovely!! We really enjoyed Valerie and Clair and they couldn’t have been nicer! Breakfast was delish too!
One suggestion: a full length mirror in the rooms? ”
“The property itself is quite good—newly renovated facilities, a convenient location, and a nice free breakfast. It’s easy to see why it has a 9.0 rating and overall, it’s worth it.
However, I was assigned a room right next to the ice machine and emergency exit. I checked in late at night and didn’t realize the potential for noise. Unfortunately, the receptionist didn’t mention anything about it, even though I was traveling with kids.
Starting as early as 6 a.m., guests began walking around for……
“Beautiful setting in Colonial Williamsburg - if you are fairly mobile, this is great spot within the Colonial area so you can walkl everywhere. The spa gym building is separate but it is a pretty walk behind the sister hotel Williamsburg Inn where you check inn. The place itself was a good sized room and we slept 5 of us for this last minute stay and we normally get separate roomed suites, but this worked fine and was more budget friendly. The room itself was not super modernly updated, but it……
“The hosts at Aldrich House are great and provide a wonderful breakfast served family style in the beautiful home. Overall a very clean and lovely setting to relax for the few days we were in town to visit Williamsburg. Very easily walkable distance (about 10 minute walk with sidewalks all the way) to downtime Colonial Williamsburg. Free to visit town, but you will need tickets for events and attractions. Stayed here over July 4th and crowds not an issue at all.”

Starting as early as 6 a.m., guests began walking around for breakfast, some trying to open the emergency exit—which triggered a loud alarm. The real issue started after 7 a.m, when the emergency exit began functioning as a regular door. Guests continuously came in and out, causing the door to slam shut every 2–3 minutes. The loud banging made it impossible to rest. It was truly exhausting and disrupted our rest completely.
Getting a good night’s sleep is one of the main reasons to stay at a nice hotel, and sadly, that didn’t happen here.
All in all, this property is ok—but if you're assigned room 126, 128, or any room near the emergency exit, request a room change to avoid a similar experience.
