  • Discover this wonderful unspoilt area of France from the comfort of this delightful little cottage. La Petite Chabrenas is situated in a small hamlet surrounded by woods and meadows and is found ‘down the end of the lane’, providing a tranquil base from which to explore. Relaxing drives take you along lazy rivers to chateaux, picturesque market towns, lakes with swimming beaches or the ancient Cities of Limoges and Brive, as well as the Vezere, Lot and Dordogne valleys. This pretty little self contained cottage and garden allow you to experience the quiet and peaceful setting of Chabrenas. A perfect base for a holiday in France.


    Exploring the Countryside: There are local swimming lakes at Meuzac, St Germain les Belles and St. Yrieix la Perche with beaches and small restaurants/snack bars. Short walks can be taken within the bounds of the property and there are plenty of longer signposted walks or cycle rides around the locality. The Vezere, Lot and Dordogne valleys are all within easy travelling distance with their stunning views and pretty villages including Rocamadour, Collonge La Rouge, Cirq Lapopie and many others

    Culture / Places of Interest : Chabrenas is close to the cultural areas of Limoges (30 km) and Brive (50 km) both of which have cathedrals, many shops, museums, theatres and plenty of local history. Many summer festivals, classical concerts are held in local towns in July and August. Horse racing is held every Wednesday and some weekends during July/August/September in Arnac Pompadour. There are many chateaux to visit including our local Coussac Bonneval (8 km) also La Grenerie, Hautefort, Arnac Pompadour, Jummillac le Grand and a bit futher afield Turenne, Castlenau & Montal. Lubersac, Arnac Pompadour and St Yrieix are market towns on the route of “Richard the Lionheart”, all within 10/15 minutes drive and all have shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants. Oradour sur Glane is also just northwest of Limoges and this village was the scene of a 2nd World War massacre by the Nazis. Spectacular caves can be seen at Grotte de Roc, Goffre de Padirac and the cave paintings of Grotte de Lascaux.

Excellent!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chabrenas. The cottage was lovely and had everything you would need to make your stay comfortable including a well stocked kitchen. Our hosts were readily available should you have a problem and had plenty of information relating to the surrounding area. The cottage is situated down a quiet lane but within easy reach of pretty villages and towns with shops and supermarkets. In a nutshell, a perfect find!

A lovely little cottage and David and Jenny were very friendly hosts..it is ideal if you want perfect peace as the area is very quiet. The only problem is that you need to watch your head due to low beams.

Very friendly welcome by Jenny and David. The cottage is so beautifull and pretty. It feels like a warm coat. Comfortable and cozy and roomy enough for two. Everything is there and is functioning well. A beautiful secluded garden with enough sun- and shadowspots. Location is perfect, quiet and spacey. I can and will absolutely recommend this lovely cottage. Greetings from a very happy and relaxed holiday-go'er.

Très agréable petit cottage

Très agréable séjour passé dans ce petit cottage. Les propriétaires sont extrêmement sympathiques et à l'écoute de vos demandes. Seul petit bémol qui doit être pris en compte : les communications téléphoniques ne passent pas à l'intérieur de la maison, il faut sortir pour avoir de la réception. Et le wifi est très faible voire inexistant à certains moments de la journée et/ou de la nuit. Ceci est à prendre en compte en fonction de la raison de votre séjour.

Kleines, sehr hübsches, gepflegtes und gemütliches Häuschen in Chabrenas. Auch im Winter aufgrund des wärmenden Holzofens (und der Elektroheizungen) gut nutzbar. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Cosy little hobbit-house, perfectly clean and equipped, lovely restored and decorated. Our hosts Jenny&David were like family/friends, from the first contact via email until our arrival through our whole holiday. Whatever we needed or asked for - Jenny&David are helpful, friendly and communicative. Our dogs were welcomed, too, which was the original reason of our booking. If you look for an absolut calm and cosy holiday home, equipped with everything you need, friendly care and wonderful calm nature (our first new year‘s eve without any fireworks at all! just silence!), lots of walks, superb views, little streams, unspoiled nature and lovely hosts with dogs welcome, go there! Alles wat beloofd wordt is waar. Mooi en gezellig ingerichte cottage, zeer vriendelijke gastvrouw en-heer. Talloze uitstapjes kunnen doen, ondanks de hitte. Ook onze hond heeft genoten als nooit tevoren. Zeer aan te bevelen locatie.

A delightful place to stay

David and Jenny are just the loveliest hosts. From the moment I booked they were so helpful and kind. They booked our dogs into the local vets for our home trip and booked us restaurants. The Petite Chabrenas gite was perfect and it was so great to actually have a proper enclosed garden for the dogs. The house was so clean had everything we needed and super comfy. If we ever visit the arae again we'd be back!!! Thank you for a great stay.

Ein zauberhaftes Cottage an einem verwunschenen im Limousin

Man träumt zu Hause immer von wundervollen Urlaubsdomizilen, aber in Chabrenas wird es eine zauberhafte Wirklichkeit. Bei den sehr sympathischen und zuvorkommenden Vermietern in einem gepflegten, rromantischen Cottage in einer weitläufigen, wild romatischen Lanschaft. Und das funktioniert hier alles bestens auch mit Hund! 10 von 5 Sternen!

Très bon séjour

Nous avons passé un très bon séjour de deux semaines dans ce petit cottage, très bien équipé et décoré avec goût. Le petit jardin derrière est très agréable, avec tout ce qu'il faut (table, grand parasol, chaises longues, barbecue). David et Jenny qui habitent à côté sont charmants et à l'écoute en cas de besoin. Nous cherchions un lieu calme ayant un petit bébé de 6 semaines et nous n'avons pas été déçus - c'est là qu'il a fait sa première nuit complète ! A signaler toutefois, si cela est important pour des hôtes, que le wifi n'est pas très puissant, et que la literie n'est pas très ferme. Enfin, gare aux grands, les poutres apparentes, notamment dans la salle de bain, peuvent laisser quelques traces ! Mais cela ne nous a pas empêchés de passer un bon moment

Maison enchantée

Une maison hors du temps avec tout le confort mais un charme des campagnes anglaises comme on le voit dans inspecteur Barnaby. Des hôtes charmants et attentionnés. Amoureux des belles maisons, des endroits bucoliques... Allez y. La haute vienne est un beau département. Il y a de quoi voir :)
