"Had a quick trip out to Lake Whitney for a visit. Needed a place to overnight and found this place. Worked out for our needs. It sits out about 10 minutes east/northeast of Whitney on some caliche roads. Was peaceful and relaxing after a day of running around. Nice view and quiet. Bed comfy, a/c worked great (a bit of noise but nothing out of ordinary), and nice big bathroom area for small unit. Had small kitchen stuff with coffee bar, microwave, and small frig. Can't really cook but...

"We had a good trip but during our last trip, we left tired and told the owners who happen to be at the front desk that our night was interrupted by the howling of the wind that was coming thru the window. The owners seemed genuinely concerned and told us that during our next stay, they will make it up to us and would put it in their notes. When we checked in this time, we reminded them of the previous trip and all they did was say that the help might've not closed the window all the way, which didn't help us in any way. I wasn't looking for a free stay, but, I held back on a poor review because they were willing to make things better. I realize now, it was only empty promises to keep us happy for the moment. We like the hotel and it has an EV charger that works well, but, I'll be looking for an alternative going forward. Nothing like bad service to ruin a good hotel."

The Rove at L5 | wander and stay

"We had the BEST time at The Rove! Our group included 5 couples and 12 kids ranging in age from 7 to 20, and everyone had an amazing time. There were plenty of beds for everyone, and having three full bathrooms in both the East and West houses made our stay so comfortable. Our mornings were spent enjoying coffee in the Adirondack chairs around the fire pit. It was the perfect spot—shaded, breezy, and overlooking the lake. There was no shortage of activities! My family loved playing pickleball (we brought our own net, along with a tape measure and painter's tape to mark the court), pool volleyball, and fishing, which was a HUGE hit with the kids. We also brought several yard games, which everyone enjoyed throughout the day. We cooked all of our dinners in the pool house since it has the most supplies and the largest workspace. The Blackstone grill was a fantastic bonus and made cooking for a large group so easy. In the evenings, we gathered around the sports court, listened to music, and watched the kids play epic games of basketball. It was such a fun way to end each day. Brandi was incredibly responsive and helpful with every question I had before and during our stay. We couldn't have asked for a better place for our family vacation and would absolutely stay at The Rove again! A few tips for future renters: *Bring some extra shade for the pool area if you're visiting during the warmer months. We brought two pop-up canopies and set them up near the pool steps, which made a huge difference. *If you enjoy a glass of wine with dinner, pack a few wine glasses, as those were limited. *There are convenient stores just a short drive away, and there's plenty of freezer space, so it's easy to stock up on ice and other essentials for your stay. *Bring extra outside chairs to move around the property at ease"

"When we first drove up, we were a little concerned because the property is older. However, it was clear that the owners and staff have done their best to keep it looking nice and well maintained. The positive reviews we had read said the rooms were clean, the staff was friendly, and it was a good place to get a restful night’s sleep—and that proved to be true. Our room was very clean, we had no issues with bugs, roaches, etc. the staff was friendly and laid-back, and we slept well. Overall, it was a good and comfortable stay. I will stay here again if I get another shoot in Midlothian, TX."

"Not bad. Clean room, had the basics. The room had a bit of a weird smell, not gross or anything. It was more like maybe it used to be a smoking allowed room and they’ve done their best to get rid of the odor but it didn’t quite work all the way. But for $300 a week, you can’t beat it"
