“This was the best place I could have chosen for my week long visit to Valparaiso! Set atop a small hill a mile south of Sotomayor Square the guest house is in a more quiet neighborhood. This area is convenient for visiting the UNESCO areas, but much more peaceful and safe for walking around. The room (I chose #3) had a view of the garden/ courtyard and was always cool and comfortable even in the hot weather. Every morning there was a delicious breakfast and the hosts were very friendly and……

“Convenient location close to Plaza Sotomayor (starting point for walking tours) and the 'tourist' hills, Cerro Alegre and Concepcion, and few minutes by Uber from the bus station. Charming old building with high ceilings and french doors in the room. Reasonably modern decor but looking a bit worn, and the textured paint in the bathrooms seems to hold a lot of dirt. Bathroom had a separated toilet and plenty of bench space, which was nice. Very basic kitchenette in the room (some crockery and……

“Cutest hotel I’ve been in. Love the room and decor. Location is up the hill so be prepared to climb if you walk. Uber would be a good option but we walked. Breakfast was simple. Staff were excellent. Google maps showed the correct location but announced we had arrived when we were still 1min away. Hotel is mostly below street level and not easy to see.”

“The only problem we experienced was the fact that the hotel had live music in the restaurant until very late in the night. We had a very early start the next morning and did not get much sleep!”

“Fauna Hotel is located at mid-hill level of Valparaiso and visit to historic buildings can be done in foot. The hotel also lies in restricted area where large vans are forbidden to enter. Passengers and luggages have to be dropped off the main road and there is a distance of 10 min walk to move between the hotel and drop off location. However, taxi and small vans can reach the hotel at closer range. But still there is a distance of about 30 metres to walk through. However, the hotel staff and……
