Our favourite accommodation of whole trip, we thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay. Amazing location. Very comfortable stylish rooms. Excellent breakfast. Very welcoming hosts, we wish them well in their new venture, they deserve to do well. Would highly recommend, wished we'd stayed longer.

We really enjoyed our stay at Licuala Lodge. The property, accomodation, breakfasts and discussions with the great hosts Dawn and Blair, were all first class. We also enjoyed the many butterflies and birds as well as seeing Charlie the Cassowary Alan and Mary.

Absolutely enjoyed our 2 night stay at Licuala Lodge. Stayed in the Superior King Room which was private, clean and modern with lots of special little touches. It also had a patio area with its own entrance to the guest common area and kitchen. Continental breakfast was included in our rate and we also purchased a cooked breakfast option for one morning. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality and presentation of the food offered to us. Set amongst nature with beautiful gardens and a fantastic pool and only minutes to the beach, shops and town. A perfect spot to relax or explore the beauty of the area. Thoroughly recommend Licuala Lodge for the way the owners take pride in how they present what their property has to offer and also their approachable, friendly personality.

Bird Paradise

We found this place online for being the good place to spot cassowary. And it didn't disappoint us. Within 30 mins of arrival (close to sunset), a cassowary wandered through the garden and gave us a huge surprise while we were watching other birds and butterflies. We saw it again next morning walking out of the forest next to the swimming pool. Besides cassowary, we also saw many stunning butterflies and birds, including catbird, figbird, olive-backed sunbird, bar-shouldered dove, yellow-spotted honey eater...just name a few. If you are a birder, then this place is perfect for you. We stayed at the king room, and it has its own private patio and grill. Couple things to mention: updated bathroom, spotless bedroom, delicious home made breakfast, best of all, super nice hosts. We highly recommend this place for anyone visiting mission beach!

Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen. Das Guesthouse liegt mitten im Jungle mit einem tollen Garten. Zweimal sind Kasuare im Garten zu Gast gewesen, ganz tolles Erlebnis! Das Frühstück wird individuell erstellt mit hausgemachtem Brot liebevoll serviert. Das Zimmer war top. Absolut zu empfehlen!

A beautiful location with wonderful hosts

Our 5 night stay at Licuala Lodge was just wonderful. Our hosts Blair and Dawn were very attentative, friendly and full of information about the local area. The bonus of seeing a male Cassowary and his two chicks strolling through the property on 3 of our 5 days was a real highlight. The included breakfast was fresh and filling and set us up for the days activities. The view from the breakfast deck over the mature gardens is a relaxing way to start the day. The rooms were comfortable and include everything you need for an overnight or extended stay. Provision of a shared lounge with kitchen facilities was important to us and we enjoyed preparing a meal here on a number of nights. There is even a fridge with beer/wine/soft drink and ice-creams available for purchase in the lounge area. We would most definitely return and stay with Blair and Dawn again. You really can't go wrong with booking to stay at this wonderful BnB.

A hidden gem

Lovely and charming little place tucked away from tourists with wonderful gardens. 2 cassowaries with chicks spotted in 2 days. Breakfast is lovely. Only 20 minutes walk to the beach and a couple of places to eat. Very sweet and helpful owners. Will come again!

perfect spot to stay in Mission Beach

What a fantastic stay. Stylish and comfortable room, comfy bed, good shared kitchen. Add to that a beautiful rainforest setting, wonderful garden and incredible breakfast and you have our perfect stay. Pool was great and there was a Casowary wandering through one day! Great hosts too. Perfect.

This property would not suit everyone. It is not on the beach, it does not have TV in your room and the pool is not great. It has a shared verandah where you can sit and share travellers tales and magnificent gardens. Walls between rooms are thin. Works if you are with like-minded people. Owners super friendly and couldn't do enough for you - breakfast enormous. Lodge located in rainforest - on both mornings of our stay a casawary strolled across gardens to everyones delight. Wallabies sighted too. A relaxed stay away from the main strip and truly memorable.

Stayed for one night and there was nothing that could have been better. When arriving we were advised to cover our car under white linen because of the cassowarys liking to pick on dark cars. Fortunately we also saw one while breakfast! The breakfast itself was awesome - homemade and so much! The room is small but you'vr got everything you need. We specially liked the veranda with the chairs for each apartment. Many thanks to Dawn, who gave us brilliant ideas what to do in the surrounding and who was a great host. We love to come back sometimes! Thanks, Alina and Chris
