The condo was the third floor of the building, which I did not read anywhere that we had stairs to climb, but it worked out just fine. The location was near the lake, which gave us beautiful views and plenty for the kids to do with indoor facilities, a short walk away the condo we stayed in had the enclosed loft which our grandson‘s age 11 and 13 enjoyed. This condo was also close enough to drive to the marina where there were a few businesses open in November and also restaurants nearby.

Excellent Location for Young Family

This condo was perfect for my husband and I, our son and daughter-in-law and our two young grandchildren (ages 2 and 6). Although there were stairs to the unit we did not find them bothersome. The proximity to the clubhouse with both an indoor and outdoor pool as well as the small sandy beach were key to our fabulous week! The unit was set up perfectly with everything we needed for meal prep, sleeping comfortably and relaxing (napping) during the mid-day heat. The courtesy boat docks were conveniently located just a short walk across a grassy field and the entire area was incredibly quiet. The outdoor decks were nice, but they are not covered, so they get very wet when it rains. This is a very convenient location but if you want outdoor dining or shaded seating, this is not the unit for you. Overall, we loved our stay here are likely to book this unit again in the future.

The Smith Mountain Lake is an amazing place and Bernards Landing is an excellent property. See PicsOur problem was with communication from the property management group. We did not communicate directly with the owner. In the arrival instructions they told us to bring all this basic stuff- Toilet paper, trash fbags, dishwasher soap, etc. Never heard of such a thing and I tried to confirm this unusual instruction, but they didn’t respond. So we had to scramble last minute to buy all this stuff. As it turns out the unit was as well supplied as any place I’ve stayed in. Great place, poor communication.
