Restored stone village house close to Uzes
Montaren is the closest village to Uzes, La Maison Verte is located in a quiet street at the top end of the village. There is characterful space in abundance plus luxury bathrooms; free fast fibre WiFi and a mix of sunny and shady spaces to relax in, within the private walled garden.
PLUS - Uzes the jewel of the Gard Region with its fine shops, twice weekly market and over 30 restaurants is just a short cycle ride or walk away (bikes available).
The house is a charming village property with some quirky renovations such as the glass landing leading to a snug area where you can snooze and curl up with a book. There are two big, elegant, open fireplaces, beautiful chestnut flooring and old oriel windows that offer a pretty outlook. Please note there are no locks on the windows and the drop from them is high, hence we don’t recommend the house for young children or those needing constant supervision. If you have concerns about things such as our open window drops or our open tread staircases, our house is probably not right for you or your family to relax and holiday in.
Please have a good look through the photographs to gain a good idea of the layout of the house and whether it suits your access requirements.
Whilst we rent the house out, it is also our holiday home so there are two private rooms we keep closed off when we are not there. We have, nevertheless, ensured everything is available for you to holiday in a home-from-home super-comfortable way during your stay.
There are a couple of vintage bicycles in the garage together with a tyre pump, should you fancy going for a spin, together with a tyre pump. We would ask that if you park up somewhere for the market, a coffee or glass of wine.
There is a covered loggia off the kitchen where you will find two large cane chairs on this terrace that make it a perfect place to take breakfast or have a snooze after lunch.
Stairs from the Loggia lead down to the gated, walled garden with lots of seating, a shaded terrace, plus an open cave for outdoor dining. Sun beds are kept undercover for you to pull out and use if you desire. There is a gas bbq and pizza oven here for your use.
In the centre cave we have placed a table tennis table and more seating.
The kitchen is fully equipped with gas oven / fridge freezer and all the kitchen equipment you need to enjoy your home from home experience. The village deli sells local wines, beers, cheese, meat and fresh produce to rustle up a tasty lunch.
The kitchen opens onto the dining area with a table that seats 6. To the side and up a step, is the living room with study area where there are three, three-seater sofas and another door onto the loggia. The double door in the living room is one of our closed private spaces.
Both living and dining room have beautiful open fireplaces.
In the back corner of the dining room a door leads to the principal bathroom with toilet, basin, bath with mixer taps and walk in shower.
In the dining area an open tread staircase leads to the mezzanine level that functions as a tv room, with a glass walkway that takes you to the snug, a space with reduced ceiling height that’s ideal for napping in, using as a meditation space, or just curling up with a book.
There’s also a spare wardrobe hanging space in the cupboard at the back of the mezzanine should you wish to use this.
There is a wide screen TV with WiFi connection for Amazon Prime, Netflix etc.
Your bedroom(s) and second bathroom are also on this floor along a corridor. Each bedroom has a queen-sized double bed plus a single futon type bed. If there’s just the two of you holidaying at La Maison Verte the larger of the two bedrooms will be made up for you. The bathroom on this level has the same set up as the principal bathroom downstairs though the toilet is separate and adjacent.
The house is always thoroughly cleaned between rentals to a covid-clean standard by our concierge/ cleaning team from the village.
If you have a small rental car and don't intend to use it we have a small narrow garage or alternatively free parking is available 2-3 minutes walk away either by the school or the dechetterie.
