Pets are welcome at this fully stocked, beautiful real log cabin. You will get a true sense of the Colorado Cabin experience. The cabin is at an altitude of approx. 9,400 ft. in the Arrowhead Mountain area of the San Juan Mountains. The cabin is approx. 1,400 sq. ft. and very spacious with lots of deck space and porch furniture to hang out on. The front porch even has a swing!
Guests have access to various hiking trails, Black Canyon National Park, Blue Mesa Reservoir where you can go boating, and Gunnison, Crested Butte, Montrose and Ouray areas. Black Canyon is approx. a 50-minute drive from the cabin where you can explore and hike the canyon. Blue Mesa Reservoir is approx. a 30-minute drive where you can rent boats and fish for world record lake trout. Gunnison and Montrose areas are approximately a 50-minute drive in either direction. Crested Butte, Ouray, and Lake City are 1.5 hours away from the cabin. At the cabin, guests have access to the Arrowhead Mountain Lodge, which is a 20-minute walk where lunch and dinner are served Monday through Friday. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served on Saturday and Sundays. The lodge has a full bar and during summer months, there is musical entertainment. Before arriving to the cabin, make sure you stop at a grocery store in either Gunnison or Montrose to get supplies: food, laundry detergent, cooking oil, etc. The cabin does have a coffee maker with a re-usable mesh filter and a Keurig cup machine. Cell phone service is very intermittent. The cabin has Wi-Fi and so does the Arrowhead Mountain Lodge. Guests should enable or setup Wi-Fi calling on their cell phones, which is free. There are USB outlets in the living room, kitchen, and both bedrooms. A computer work desk is in the main bedroom. There is an outdoor security camera on the property.
Winter at Arrowhead is a special time. The internal community roads close to wheeled vehicles approximately December 1st until mid-April, depending on the amount of snow. The roads are then open to snowmobiles, cross country skis, snowshoes and foot travel. Inquire before booking. Guests need to park in the Winter parking lot and use snowmobile, skis or snowshoes to go the .75-mile groomed trail to the cabin. Snowmobiles can be rented locally ahead of time from Arrowhead Mountain Adventures (www.alpineplateau.com).
